I know we have some phone geeks on this forum, and I need your help.
Next week my contract is up and the sweet little wife and I are looking for a cell phone with a few things in mine. The dog has eating my antenna off. So I can’t wait for a new one.
Here is what I want.
1- Internet on the phone.
2- Able to hook internet up to my lap top from the phone.
3- Must be verizon.
4- Camera built in.

What is the difference PDA & Smartphone and Blackberry?

Since it has to be Verizon I would recommend the Motorola Q or a Treo. Don't get the XV6700. I have that phone in the Sprint version and I'm not very happy with it.

Thanks, I just look at the MotorolaMotorola MOTO Q music 9m. Looks very nice.
Enter your location

Where can I look at reviews on these phones?

Well I worked for Alletl for 2 yrs recently so I might be able to help. A PDA is like a palm pilot and a phone together. Smartphone has like wi-fi capabilities... and blackberry is just a name of a company. I hate blackberry. they're like pda's. As far as being to hook up your phone to your laptop for ISP, that's just a matter of a cable and the right software to give you that capability. Motorola is best at that feature.

I have alltel, and have the moto q and like it, also when I worked for alltel I had a treo and liked it too. the 700wx is the first palm to be windows based so it's cool. Heck if you switch to alltel i'll sell ya my extra Q!!! j/k hope that helps out.

Thanks Dust, the wife is looking right now on the link Reddwarf posted. She was asking about wireless from the phone to the Lap top with out a cable. Is this possible?

Have a Cingular 8525 that is badass, built in wifi, viewing pdf files on the go easily which I need for my biz etc. Can tether it to the laptop. Don't think there's a model for Verizon, the parent phone is the HTNY whatever thingamajiger lol.

I just got a HTC s710 phone and it got "all" you wanted (dono verizon?) e-mail, mms, sms, 2 mp cam, ext micro SD card, internett, works, exel.....so on you can even use it as a phone...smart....he he

HTC

The "keyboard" is kinda small, so its no point writing a book on this one, but great sending short e-mails and surfing AGol...

Camera takes good pics

Screen is pretty good in the sun too

And as it has micro SD card slot, you never run out of memory..

Sparkie I just got the Moto Q last week and love it. Loads of features and I'm still learning everything it will do. It will let me view AGonline, I do know that :D.

Thanks guys... The boss (wife) needs to check this out. She telling me to come to bed.
Again thanks for the great info... :applause:

as far as i know that's the only way. cell phones don't send out a internet signal, they only recieve it. that's why you have to go hardline.

A little off topic but cell phone related and something I thought fellow detailers might be interested in...

Until a week or so ago I was using a Motorola Razr, loved the phone, slim enough to fit in a back pocket and did all the things I wanted it to very well. I'm not interested in so many "advanced" features on a phone (work straps a blackberry and laptop to me so MY phone is just a phone). Any way, I noticed some odd behavior from the Razr while detailing, it turns out between the heat and humidity we've been having and the spray from the hose, the Razr was taking in a little to much moisture - it would stop working for several hours until it had time to dry out. Now I have a g'Zone "ruggadized" phone by Casio (through Verizon) it's big and bulky, no where near as sexy as the Razr, but, I can drop it in my wash bucket and it will still work.

Wireless from phone to laptop. It depends on what you mean. You can sync the PDA to a laptop using the infrared port. If you mean to use the phone as a means to access the internet for a laptop then you are best served by connecting then via a usb cable. Some phone can use bluetooth to achieve the connection, but it drains your battery real fast.
One note on the Q: you can't charge it and use it as a modem vir it's cabel to the laptop at the same time.
