.. from an amateur.
While the product makes black trim look nice and is durable I'm sure, application is the worst. Maybe there's things I don't know about applying a product like this. I followed their instructions, and watched a video. Wipe it on (using pre-moistened wipes), no levelling or buffing. And that's where it lacks; no levelling means no way to smooth the look and finish out. So now my trim, depending on where you stand to look at it, is not a nice solid consistent black plastic. Looks like there's something all over it (streaky) and that it should be cleaned. That's standing at the back of the car looking down the side. Looking straight on isn't too bad in most spots. But I have a few visible streaks at any angle, and now I'm screwed.
I did proper prep.
Maybe I didn't use enough wipes, maybe I let it get dry. But the application is unforgiving.
And the one side of the car, the sun hit it about 1.5 hours after application, and it's not as smooth a finish as the other side; seems like it needs more curing/drying time; but again, nothing in the instructions or video.
I'm gonna stick with products that you can level and smooth/buff out. Used WETS last year and it was great.
I'm sure some of you have luck with Cerakote, but it shouldn't be a matter of luck. Not good for repeat sales.

I used it on black plastic trim and found that the initial application was streaky. After allowing it to dry I did a second application. That evened up the streaks and it's held up great for a year.

Fuck that I leveled the shit… looked great for 2+ years. Great product. Horrible application method.

I did use a second towelette to level.

So you used another wipe to level? Wondering how that would make it less streaky, being that you're wiping more product on. If the first coat streaks, you'd think the second layer would also. And it gets sticky within 5 minutes, so levelling has to be almost immediately.

Yes, application is its downfall. Put the product in a bottle and let us apply, to get a consistent amount on the surface.
