We just bought a new vehicle and (as best I can tell) the previous owner had it ceramic coated. I know there are issues with compatibility, etc., but what would be a good product to use to maintain the ceramic coating? I have no idea what product was used on the car before we purchased it.

I was looking at Diamond Pro Tech but I’m really not sure what to use.

thanks.

I used Diamond Pro Tech Quick Body and was very very unimpressed by it. The application, gloss, and slickness were nice but the water behavior or lack there of was not. I also think it may have seriously impacted the life of 22PLE HPC ceramic coating applied a few months prior. The coating was either significantly diminished by a salty Upstate NY winter, the Diamond Protech topper, or a combination of both. Either way avoid it. I think Guz had similar feelings on it.

Some good alternatives are Armour Detail Supply ceramic spray sealant or their Amplify detail spray, if budget isn't a concern Kamikaze Overcoat version whatever they're on is great, Polish Angel products are nice but overpriced, NV Nova Jet or Lustre are excellent, and Sonax Ceramic Spray Coating performs way way above it price point.

I could list many different products for this role, but to throw something out there that doesn't get a lot of mention, Meguiar's Hybrid Ceramic Detailer is one of my favorites. This seems to be ultra versatile in terms of what its put on top of, is easy to work with and delivers excellent gloss and slickness.

First and foremost you need to wash it frequently with a quality shampoo. Meguair's Hyper Wash is affordable and can be bought locally at harbor freight if need be. To maintain hydrophobic properties I'll put in another vote for Meguair's Hybrid Ceramic Detailer which can also be bought locally.

I'm a big fan of CarPro ECH2O which is really affordable when you mix it at 1:20. Armour Detail Amplify is another I've started using recently and really like.

Before you jump the gun and start buying new products give it a good washing and hit it with a hose or pressure washer and see the hydrophobics. Making sure the coating is still there would be my first order of business.

Americana Global - Detail Spray - Ceramic Pro

Ceramic Pro recommends this product. It's more than a detail spray as it leaves something behind. I tried it on my Ceramic Pro coated car after detailing it early April. Easy to apply and it's still going strong at this point. I'm hopeful for 2-3 months.

Everyrhing mentioned has been great. For drying aids I like Megs ceramic detailer, Ech20 and Griots ceramic detailer.

For toppers my go to are pretty much anything Polish Angel and Kamikaze OverCoat always got on hand. A inexpensive but also good product is Dr. Beasley’s Bead hero.

I’m sure some one will be here soon touting ADS as they seem to be new flavor of the month and well deserved based on reviews from well trusted members.

What's everyone's thoughts on NV Nova Boost? I've been thinking about their products like Luster and Jet for a while and never pulled the trigger since I already use more durable coating. I'm not sure when Boost came to market, but it looks like it would fall into this category.

Of the 7 products I tried on the TX a couple weeks ago, Boost was one of the nicest to apply and seemed quite slick and silky

I did make the mistake of buying the older Boost instead of the newer V2, but I have no basis for comparison so who knows how much different/better the new version is

It is supposed to assist the coating to do its thing, not actually add something like a topper would

I haven't come to any long term conclusions yet

I am one of those that recently tried Armour Detail Supply Amplify and was very impressed. I highly recommend it. I also like TEC 582 and Xtreme Solutions Topper.

I have wanted to try NV boost. My only gripe about it is the price. Once I find a product I like, I like to buy it by the gallon, to make it more cost effective. Both TEC 582 and Topper are a great value when you buy them by the gallon ($40-$45). Amplify is just a bit more expensive at $49.99 per gallon and you can easily find discount codes for 10-20% off.

NV Boost appears to only come in 500ml or 1 liter. The 1 liter is offered at $28 per liter, which works out to $105.84 per gallon. I haven't personally tried NV boost, but is it really worth 2-3 times the price as these other quality products?

I haven't used TEC 582 in quite a while but remember it very fondly, in fact when I use 3D Bead it Up I almost think I am using the TEC

I buy very few chemicals in gallons these days other than soaps, prewashes, microfiber detergent, etc and therefore I honestly don't pay much attention to the cost per qt/lt/gal and just buy and use what works and is enjoyable

I bought a half liter of the Boost to try and that will last me quite a while, and by the time I need more there should be enough feedback on the Version 2 that if I want more I will probably buy a liter and be set for a long time

There are two versions of Boost, the original and the v2 version that arrived about two years ago.

Boost - this is a spray and wipe quick detailer designed for maintaining ceramic coatings. The concept here is you use Boost as a drying aid or topper after each wash, in the process laying down a short-term sacrificial layer, while also providing some additional gloss and slickness. That's pretty universal stuff, but what separates Boost is that it is removed at the next wash using soap, in turn taking contamination with it. You then reapply and repeat the process. Because of that concept, I use Boost as a topper for my wheel coating to help with brake dust.

In use, I wouldn't say Boost is the slickest and glossiest quick detailer or ceramic topper, but its pretty simple to use, and that short term layer concept is somewhat unique.

Boost v2 - where the original provided short term results, Boost v2 produces lasting protection, gloss and slickness. This is a much more conventional ceramic spray sealant/detailer in that can be used as a topper or as a standalone protectant, which "can last anywhere between 3-6 months depending on driving/storage/paintwork conditions". I think Boost v2 has been more widely accepted because of its longer lasting effect.

I have found v2 to produce a slicker, glossier surface when compared to the original, it will also produce some decent hydrophobic properties. Boost v2 can get a bit streaky if over applied.

While I do use both and, I wouldn't say they sit above and beyond other similar products, especially if the short-term concept of v1 is of no interest to you. We get NV products relatively cheap in Australia, but I wouldn't say the price premium they command in the US and Canada is worth it.

You guys buying product are pretty brave unless you're using it for a business. Gallons of a detail spray would last me a lifetime. I'm almost afraid to think how long my bottle of ECH2O has lasted me so far. I've only purchased one...years ago. I just don't go through the stuff that fast.

Wow! Thanks for all the info. I know I found it useful and hopefully others will too.

While it sounds pretty good, I might stick to Amplify since the application is almost fool-proof.

Two big thumbs up for Loach and his channel. The toppers/detailers he reccomends are excellent
