I'm going to give this a go tonight...just one window...for fun

Total rookie here....any tips?

Ceriglass

Pads that were reccomended....I think blue and white glass pads

Ok to use on tinted windows?
Not sure how dumb of a question that is.

Do you have tint on the outside? Keep it wet.
 
Don't think so but don't know for sure...bought used
 
I know it came factory tint in back which is the window I was going to do
 
From what I've read, cover everything within 20ft that you don't want polish splatter on.

I wasn't really sure but to follow that advice I used a lot of product....didnt seem all that wet

I did go outside this morning and wiped window with Invisible Glass. It totally rainbowed. Kind of freaked me out but it went away.
 
I simply use distilled water in a spray bottle but it is so important to keep it wet!

I believe the rainbow effect is from the polishing. The glass is now hydrophilic which means its repellency to water is less than it was prior to. I think adding a glass coating like something as simple and cheap as Rain X should get it back to being hydrophobic which repels water.

Stuff is a little messy, don't take much. A little dab did half of a Scion tC with a pano roof.

You don't want to dry buff the glass with Ceriglass. Like Paul said, use a spray bottle to keep it wet.

Using a rotary buffer is the fastest way to correct glass, but it can be messy.

Polishing glass is a time consuming job, do small sections at a time and inspect frequently.
 
So spray bottle while applying Ceriglass?

Can ceriglass be used by hand for a simple "deep clean" of a windshield (as opposed to defect correction)?

Sure, but why not use more user friendly products to clean your glass? Ceriglass does make a hand kit with a rayon pad.
