I was watching the video for Black Light and Hybrid V7 on CG's web site and the statement that Black Light allows the paint to breathe has hung me up. What does that mean? Or is it code for Black Light is not a sealant?

Good question. I still haven't jumped into bl. I'm a little confused, reading their site.....it seals, it's an aio, and it cleans. But I read you should top it for protection. Don't know. Can u use as aio? Is it durable? Hopefully someone will chime in.

Im trying to think back to when I checked this product out. Its body shop safe correct? Im pretty sure when its stating breath its refefering to the offgas of the paint while its curing...

I found black light to act like pinnicle clensing lotion with its mild abrasiveness bending or rounding the edges of swirls giving the light reflection less reflection so your not going to see swirls as easily. My word choice in saying this isnt the best but I hope it makes sense... quite a few people swear by black light but in my eyes I would rather just compound or polish swirls and rids out rather than "mask" them.... its not exactly a cheap product so I coukdent see using it on a customer car to clean things up before toping either.... menz 2000 or 2500 would be more cost effective than thee 16oz bottle of black light... this is just my .02 so take it for what it is... opinion based...

I am also interested in hearing how users of backlight use and like it!

Since CG's Blacklight contains abrasives (fine, though they may be) for "light correction";
and leaves a layer of "durable protection" (sealant=seals the paint )...
In other words: An AIO...

I personally do not believe that CG's Blacklight is intended for use over an
uncured re-spray/fresh paint...where solvent outgassing is a must.

Vehicle paints, whether freshly applied/factory baked-on, has, IMHO:...
Been quite dead for a while before we ever get to "touch it".

No amount of "breathing-techniques/marketing-hype" will overcome this obstacle.

i would never use black light over curing paint.. it's synthetic

I like CG stuff, but I take what that guy says in their videos with a grain of salt. A lot of times it just sounds like its made up on the spot. Unless its new body shop sprayed paint; paint doesn't need to "breathe" or be "fed" IMHO. It's not a living organism, although some of us may care for it like it is one.

I was not impressed with it's stand alone durability. Got only 1 - 1 1/2 weeks. Im going to give it another shot later on.

This is why many top it with v7 or something else. But v7 also does not last long for me. 2 to 3 weeks.

I've use BL I top topped with V07 on my wifes car. Easy products to use. Can't say how long it lasts because I'm always washing and touching up her car. Of the two products I like V07 better. BL is good but I prefer M205 for a go to polish that does just about everything very well.

As far as using it on fresh paint I do not think it was designed for that purpose. CG makes some great products their marketing is a little new wave for me.

Truth. I tried it stand alone because, I read on here from you guys that it has decent durability.

Mainly it currently doesn't have a clear spot it my arsenal. I'd rather use Poorboy's white diamond or even glossworkz if using as a glaze.

or just use my sealants if Im only wanting to protect.

Since it claims to have a sealant in it, I wouldn't use it on fresh paint.

I use it on all of my vehicles and top it with V07. Looks awesome!!!

I get about 3 weeks out of V07. But I seldom go that long without applying more.
