CG Blacklight and V7... opinions?

I have Red Mist and have used it a couple of times so far. Once you realize how far just one spray spreads, you won't get streaks. Personally I really like it. I just don't see how V7 could be better, but it seems to get a lot of hype around here.

Try using 2 towels instead of flipping the one. That might be enough to make the difference for you.

Are you asking a question or making a statement? If your asking a question then I have the same one. Are you guys applying by hand or machine and with what methods. With all the hoopla about this product that is the one thing that is very rarely discussed, all anybody writes is how wonderful the results are. With most products that get this kind of exposure people write what their process was. There is very little information on what pads, speed or amount of product used in any of the posts.

From my research about what other people wrote and what CG write on their website, if applying by DA, you should use a finishing pad on 3.5-4 speed, applying no pressure if you're using as a sealant, or little to moderate pressure if using as an AIO. If you want to apply a second coat after curing, it is recommended to apply it by hand, and not a DA.

silverfox recommended in a post in which I asked similar questions not to prime the pad, but to jut apply 3 pea sized drops from the beginning, as a little goes a long way and priming the pad could be too much.

I can't wait till I use the BL-5050-v7 combo next week! I will upload a detailed post on everything afterward.
 
I used BL 3 pea sized on tangerine hydro tech pad on flex 3401 speed 4-5. Buffed off after each 2x2 section. Finished up w/ V7 w/ MF towels. The surface won't feel smooth right away. You gotta wait until the following day, then feel it. The result of this combo is pretty good.

However, i found that if i use 2 pea sized of BL and 1 pea sized of P21S Gloss Enhancing Paintwork Cleanser or D151 or M105 or opti seal. The result is really really good.

With M105? Are you positive? That's quite a heavy compound to use along with Black Light... were you aiming at achieving good correction as well?

Yes, i need some correction. And you know what a PITA M105 can be. With BL+M105, you can work longer and way way less dust. The result is fantastic.

Sounds like an interesting tip, maybe I'll try it someday. However I think this tip should go more to M105 users asking for how to apply advice, and less to BL users ;)
 
vice versa. I didn't intent to correct anything. It was by accident. You should try it w/ the P21S Gloss Enhancing Paintwork Cleanser, the result is pretty impressive. What great about BL is that you can mix w/ anything. I'm no pro but i like experimenting w/ different combo

Hey - I have used one MF and Two MF techniques when applying Red Mist - I spray on and wipe in the same direction, come back and buff a little. I love this stuff - I wish they made a bigger version. I am tempted to try V7, but I am curious if it is basically the same as Red Mist. I really bias towards the Dodo products, because I think their wax is the cats meow. I love Red Mist and the look I achieve with it.

When I use Red Mist I don't apply it directly to the panel. I spray the towel and wipe it on the panel, then flip the towel and buff. However I don't have a red or black car, so streaking isn't normally a problem for me in general.
But it may be worth a try.

I just gave Red Mist another try today since it's relatively warm outside. I used the same little bit as before, but over a larger area. That seemed to have solved the streaking issue. This is definitely a product that takes some experimenting to get used to!

How long after the final drying wipe does it normally take for yours to become slick? There must be a curing time after applying because mine has a very slight greasy feeling afterwords. Even after going over it again with a fresh and dry microfiber.

I really like Dodo's waxes too, and that makes me want Red Mist to work well even more. Thanks for your help, from a fellow Jeeper!

PS: Once I get ahold of my V7, I'll compare the two and let you know!
