I could do the research for the answer................but my question is........ can Blacklight be topped by a sealant or apply Blacklight then a sealant ?

Chemical guys touts the fact that v7 a spray sealant /QD can be used in combination w/blacklight. So I'm pretty sure you can put a sealant.

I put, Blacklight, 5050 wax, then v7. The results are so shiny, I can't even look at my car when the sun is out.

+1...I recently did the BL/V7 combo and my car has never looked better. It seemed to give my car a warmer look as compared to Blackfire which I had been using previously. BL is marketed as a polish and paint cleaner as well as a glaze so you'll want to apply it prior to applying your sealant.

I use BL regularly. As stated above, the only sealant I recommend topping it with is the V7 spray. But, it can be topped with a good paste wax of your choice. I have used Pete's 53 and Meg's Gold Class Carnauba paste with no bonding or smearing issues. Just be sure to follow the 15 minutes before wiping off and 30 minutes before topping guidelines. Great product as an AIO also. I typically see a 40-50% correction rate depending on paint. And just to make sure I wasn't covering or hiding imperfections with it, I gave a section an IPA wipedown after applying the BL. And sure thing, it corrected... no hiding.

Yes. Since Black Light is a sealant (among other things...) you can top it either with another sealant (another layer of BL won't help IMO, since it has abrasives in its formula) or with a wax.

The beauty of BL is that it makes the perfect foundation for any LSP even though it's a pretty darn good sealant in its own right. It plays especially well with CG carnuba waxes. Top it all with V7.

Sorry if this is redundant, but would topping BL with BFWD work?

I have topped BL with BFWD and with JS109....no problem. Never sure about durability of the toppers over BL, but I'm always messing around.

If you do a second coat of BL, do it by hand to minimize the abrasive action.

Once the application is complete and buffed, would you think the normal 12 hours of cure time would apply to Blacklight as it does with other sealants?

Feed back please

CG makes no mention of that cure time on their website. Maybe they're assuming your topping with V7 to seal her up?

Chemical Guys suggests 15 minutes for first application (via hand or machine) then suggests 30 minutes for the second coating (by hand).

I've never applied two coats of it, but I just might do it this weekend. :buffing:

From the CG web site on Blacklight
"What about curing time? Black Light only needs about 15 minutes to cure before you wipe it down. If you wish to apply a second coat (by hand works well), or if you want to top it with a wax, then give it another 30 minutes after wiping it down."

15 minutes before wiping excess off....30 minutes before topping it

I don't have a lot of experience with Chemical Guys products so thanks for helping out! :props:

I did BL then Pete's but some areas didn't get the full cure time and there was some bonding issues. But I noticed I uses BL last on the hood and trunk and first on the hood and trunk and that's where I had bonding issues. just keep that in mind when using it.

Any of you guys using BL via machine as a paint cleansing step? What speeds would you run for such procedure? Would you apply via white polishing pad if the above was your intended use of the product?

It does do many things well.. Cleans, polishes, glaze, and sealant. I like using with a DA polisher on speed 3.5-4 with a black finishing pad. Apply more pressure if cleaning and polishing... Less if using as a glaze or sealant. One thing to remember .. Less is more. Only two pea sized drops will do half a door panel. You should not have to wipe much off after allowing 15 minutes to cure.

Is black light a traditional filling glaze or more of a gloss enhancer a la danase wet glaze? Looking at backlight vs glossworkz glaze

BL is not a filling glaze. That crown goes to Glossworkz. BL is more a cleaner, polish, sealant. Glossworkz has no cleaning or polishing ability per say. It's strictly a filler/gloss enhancer.
