CG Bug And Tar wash

Anyone use this to strip sealant? I've placed an order and plan to use it for bugs tar and sap.
My goal is to strip the current sealant (Megs #20) clay and apply ammo skin.
Won't be polishing.
 
yes you can use a bug and tar remove to remove wax/sealent

Thank you! Any tips? My thinking is use the CG bug and tar wash in the foam gun allow to dwell and then use CG citrus wash and clear with a two bucket method before using a new sealant.
Does this sound like a safe and effective process?
Currently have Meg's #20 on the paint and will be trying AMMO skin.
 
Wait what? If i were you I would use CG Citrus Wash & Gloss with the stripping ratio. I believe Nick had a review somewhere here. Its the perfect product safer than Dawn.

I'm over thinking it I suppose, and maybe reading too much! The citrus wash and clear will strip I know also my understanding is at the ratio needed to strip it's a pain to rinse. Done! That's what I needed to hear. Thanks Francisco!
 
Why don't you use a pre-wax or pre-sealant cleaner (namely, Auto Finesse Tough Prep)? Besides polishing, it is the only guaranteed way to strip a sealant.

yes your method you have posted sounds like a safe and effective choice when using citrus wash and clear i would eye ball how much i put in the bucket rather then use a measuring cup because if you add little extra soap it will make sure you have a clean wax free surface that's ready for Ammo skin

It seemed to me that an more aggressive "dwell" product is safer and follow up with a higher lubricity wash seems safer with the two bucket method. I just wanna get the Meg's off so I have a fresh start to see how the ammo performs.

Tough prep, Ill look into it now!
 
Just looked at the tough prep-the paint is in fantastic condition it's a 2014 with 1500 miles on her. I'd rather not use any abrasive on the car if at all possible.
 
Ok my 1st test ! CG bug and tar in 32 ounce sprayer not sure of the dilution. 1.5 ounces rest water. Tested on a section of the rear quarter panel allowed to dwell for just a minute or two and hosed off. Washed the car as usual and I can absolutely tell the sealant was removed from the test spot.
I may just keep this method or step up to the Gilmore foam gun.
Thoughts from the ones who have more wisdom are welcome!

Thanks! Great thread on the Gilmore FG. I would be inclined to start with the same exact mix I have in the spray bottle now. I now know it's safe for a short dwell time and does the job. Least product needed to strip is the goal.
 
I do not know about Chemical Guys, but it is my understanding that a Tar remover product may have some solvent (think paint thinner) in it to dissolve the tar.
 
How well does this product actually work at what it's labled for? Anyone compare it to something like PB Bug Smash?

I'm curious why it's never suggested to use CG's Red Citrus Wash? I always thought it was stronger and since CG Citrus Wash & Gloss has gloss enhancers, it seems counterproductive.

Just wondering. I have both products, and also have almost a gallon of the CG Bug & Tar - but that seems so weak to me, I use it pure from a sprayed and treat front bumpers of clients' vehicles with it.
 
They don't offer the red citrus wash any longer. Not on the website.
