if you use a product that has a cleaner-polish-protection all 3 in one can you charge for a 3 step detail if not how would go about charging for that type of service

You don't want to charge for something you have not done. With a one step you "should" expect a 60 to 70 percent correction depending on many factors. A three step "should" get you closer to 95% or better. Plus hours more work. You can show this with test spots. The 3 step will get more correction and will take longer to do, hence; one step vs. 3 steps. in each step you are going over the car completely.
A bad reputation of charging for things not done will follow you like body odor. You don't want to be the smelly kid that everyone avoids.
It's always better to over deliver than over charge.

how could i go about charging for a one step that has a cleaner polish and protected in one product

idk kid i dont detail for money but you need to figure out how long its going to utake you from start to finish. that means START as in, as soon as you breakout that 5 gallon bucket to wash, until you do your last stroke of buffing to FINISH.

Find out how many hours that will take you and then decide how much you want to make per hour. Thats it kid, universal advice for pricing any job.

The role of the "All In One", AIO, Cleaner Wax is to save time.

Are you chasing perfection? If so, are you being compensated?

You never want to charge for a multi step process, and just hit it with a cleaner wax. That's unethical.

I start my cleaner wax services at $125.00 for small/medium cars. They know up front that it will not remove all of the defects. Usually takes three to four hours or so for that type of service.

The term steps are associated with correction
So weather you use a compound only, a Polish o ly or an AIO it's still just a one step.

When I use an AIO I cut down the passes and charge 200-250

With a dedicated 1 step I charge 400+

Typically the "3 step" is 1-compound 2-polish 3-protection

You are just counting each step of the detail itself and if you did that a "3step" would really be a 7 or more step.

I charge a 1/3 of of my 3 step price for an AIO as it's not getting near the 95 plus correct and normally around the 70-80 percent range. It also takes much less time so I charge less as less of my time is being used.
