While polishing my car, i dumped my used pads in leftover CG citrus wash n gloss solution. When i finished polishing i checked out the pads in the bucket and was surprised they got cleaned! Has anybody experienced this? Pine Sol citrus seems to work too but not too well on a pad used to apply sealant. Would you recommend citrus based chemicals for cleaning pads?

Snappy packs

Any APC really will do the job, my preference is BF APC or Megs

some apc and a pad brush. you can also put your pads in a bucket on top of a grit guard and hit it with a PW.

I soak my pads in a bucket with APC while still working then clean with Dawn Power Dissolver spray (Walmart $2.83), rinse well and they're still like new. It even removes DG 501 from the pads.

Anyone ever try running pads over a grit guard with solution in a bucket filed to the top of the grit guard? The same pumping up and down motion is probably required.

I think that is essentially how the high dollar pad washers work, but they add a little splash guard, and bring the grit guard up to the top of the bucket.

I've actually tried citrus wash and gloss when nothing else would clean the residue of metal polish out of my foam applicators and it worked amazingly. I don't use it as a car wash soap anymore.

Chem Guys pad cleaner. Amazing product. Not expensive if purchased in gallon size.

The thing about that is fitting the DA into the bucket

You cant beat $30 for 2 gallons of WG pad Cleaner in a white jug.

I was thinking more along the lines of a large basin sink. What I imagine is happening is the grit guard is being used as a type of scraper on the pad while the pumping motion and running the DA is serving to pull cleaner into the pad and push spent product out.

I've not seen one in person to see exactly what one's made of, but +$100 seems awfully high to me.

Cleaning immediately and using a PWasher/Hand scrub will do wonders. If not, I currently use WG Powder. Feel doing it ASAP is so important to prevent the product from seeping into the pad.
