The 16oz bottles of sealants I have are about 4years old, but are still good. But those are 16oz bottles. I can't begin to think of how long a gallon would last. I would guess that sooner or later it would have to separate out and evaporate to a point of not being usable before I finished using it.

You ever had a gallon go bad. I had a gallon of tire shine to completely haywire but that's it!

I don't buy gallons of sealants. That's just not smart for me when I don't detail full time and a 16oz bottle can last me 3-5 years.

It i my personal opinion that most every mixture has a lifespan. Some is longer than others but everything we use in car care will separate or evaporate or lose its potency over time. When you go to you stuff and see that your sealant has separated and you shake it back up how do you know it's re-mixed properly? Now based on that can you imagine the shaking and re-mixing with a gallon of a product as important as a sealant?

At the end of the day the only people that should buy a gallon of a sealant are professionals that are using large amounts every day. They will use it fast enough to make the gallon size worth while. A weekend warrior might not even use a full 16oz bottle before that buy something different and then move on.


 
I think they should offer smaller 8oz or even 4oz sizes of sealants so it won't be so expensive and more people would buy. Even the 4oz can cover multiple cars and would be way more than enough for people who like to test and experiment. Or if you have only a personal car, 1 coat every 6 months you may not even use up the 4oz bottle before it goes bad. The 16oz I feel is too wasteful for non professionals.

I totally agree with this. I like to try new products, but I can't get myself to do it until I finish up with what I already have. I just recently gave my parents a couple of products because they were just taking space in my cabinet lol

My DP sealant is fully separated and unable to go back to form after about 2 years. Collinite 845 dried up on me after a year. :( I'd hate to spend $100 on something to have $75 worth of it dry up or separate fully!!

Did you keep the 845 in one of those ketsup-type squeeze bottles? I've found that 845 can outgas right through (a sticker I placed on the outside of a bottle got soaked through and slid off) HDPE or LDPE plastic (which those bottles are made of), and dry up slowly over time. I've since kept my 845 in either PVC (same material the origial bottle is made of) or PET bottles, and have not seen any outgassing.
 
Yes! The collinite was put into an autogeek squeeze bottle. The dp was as well. I have checked my full size bottle of dp since I never use it, but will have to. I guess I am going to have to be mobile with a different size bottle in my bins (collinite). Hope everything fits :)
