Check out these car options for our TV Show

600_WTGLogo.jpg

We start shooting our second season on January 9th, 2012 and we're going to need 52 cars in total, which equals 4 cars per episode for a total of 13 episodes. We're shooting one week in January and one week in February so we pretty much need 25 cars for each week. I have a list of cars we already have access too via local car buddies so we're not actually looking for 52 cars total, just a few more cars to supplement my current list.

What we're looking for...

We're looking for a wide spectrum of vehicles to choose from, this means new, exotic, classics, hotrods, streetrods, antiques, basically anything you could call

Special Interest with some kind of human interest story.

Here are a few more criteria for having your car on our TV show.

  • Vehicle must lend itself well to a detailing tip or technique - This is basically a show-n-tell session.
  • Vehicle must be in in good physical condition, that is no dents or wrecks
  • Vehicle must be brought to Autogeek's facilities

Since most people own, drive and work on "new" cars, (less than 10 years old), we're looking a selection of new cars, truck and even S.U.V's for the show.

We also want "COOL" cars that will attract "Car Enthusiasts" and "Do-it-yourselfers".

If you live within driving range of Stuart, Florida and would like to have your car considered for use on the second season, then send me an e-mail with a picture of your car.

[email protected]

It's even possible you could be on the show with your car if your car is chosen.

If you're reading this and live in the area, then be sure to check out our Thursday night "Autogeek's Car of the Week" projects and if you've never been to Autogeek then attend one of these projects to see what we're all about.

I post a sign-up thread for each project here,

Sign-up For Autogeek's Car of the Week

And also at the bottom of the AutogeekOnline forum home page here,

AutogeekOnline.net
(Scroll to the bottom and look for pictures of the cars)

Thanks!

Sorry Mike, but that's a Packard. I think the concept for your new show is fantastic and I'm really looking forward to it. I wouldn't want you to offend any of the Hudson or Packard fanatics who might be a potential candidate.

Damn! Going to a car cruise on December 14! How cool is that?
I have a friend who was originally from PA, now living in the Orlando area. When he visits home, we'll always hit a cruise or two. He maintains that the average northern car looks better than the average FL car. Since ours are garaged half the year, we're more likely to spend time on them while in hibernation, whereas the Florida guys who enjoy their cars are out driving them 12 months a year. Sounds logical, but your pictures put up a strong argument to the contrary.

Bill

There were a lot more cars at the cruise-in but most of the pictures I posted are of cars that that the owners are willing to let us use on our TV show.

I've sent the link to this thread to the Producer at Masters TV as he makes the decision. I found e-mail is not a very good way to share dozens and dozens of pictures so that's what this thread is really for, just a simple interface that ensures Butch can see the cars and then get back to me.

I think this is a little gem...

This is an all original 1964 1/2 Mustang including the original interior and paint...
2Gweeds028.jpg

It's been in the family since it was purchased new... that's kind of special.

Most of the cars need a little polishing to really showcase their uniques and beauty, I've invited everyone that I have a contact e-mail for to our Thursday night projects where they can see and learn how to use some really cool pads, product and tools that are better and faster than working by hand but very safe at the same time.

My picks....1958 Edsel, 1956 Bel Air, 1952 Chevy Pickup, 1934 Ford Pickup, 1977 Can Am Corvette

Thanks, I'll check it out...

Mike! You coulda asked, I woulda let you borrow mine while I was there! It doesn't zoom though which for detailing shots, i find to be an annoyance. If you can get Max to swing it, I'd recommend the Canon 17-40 f/4 L (the one that's in my avatar picture). It's a wideangle lens with a VERY short focal distance requirement (you can be right up on the subject and it will focus). The lens quality is top notch and the pictures are beautiful. Used ones go for 600ish though.

Mike, I give this my vote. Any old pickups are where it's at IMO. MmmmmIm the MAN

f/4? I'd be more likely to pick up an f/2.8L tele if handheld low light shots are the primary goal. Much better than cranking up the ISO or extending the shutter speed IMHO....

And back on topic... :D

A little banter is good but keep in mind every time I update this thread with more pictures of cars for the show I'll be sending the link to this to about a dozen TV people that are coming to this thread to see pictures of the cars...

I just started a thread here for all our photography gurus to share their tips on taking pictures in low light settings...

I like trucks too... there was a Model A Roadster Truck there too but I didn't have a chance to talk to the owner...

I don't think Henry Ford offered his Model A's in this color...

2Gweeds046.jpg

There were a couple Buick GS's there too...

2Gweeds047.jpg

I'm going to another car show on Saturday night and will continue to build this thread with more and more pictures.

We're also looking for NEW cars, we don't want all classics and streetrods, cars like the Camaros, Corvettes, Mustangs etc...

:)

I'm not much of a Ford fan. If I were to choose my personal favorites, the black Buick GS would be high on the list. However, I'm understanding that the show is to be instructional in nature and that points me right to the powder-blue Mustang.

Applying your single-stage paint restoration process from the Auto Trader Classics article was a serious turnaround in the paint of my El Camino. I'd really enjoy watching a similar process being applied to that 45 year old Mustang paint.

Prevailing wisdom says you need aggressive compounds and pads to restore old SS paint. You showed me otherwise and I'm still in awe.

Bill

Mike all of the vehicles are awesome! Having to choose is like asking "would you like a date with Miss America or Miss Universe".
Any choice is a good choice.
