not too happy, i dont have a pic of the door that i did which was not the same material but i can tell it looks more faded then before! And I did the leather as well which worked pretty good but it also looks a little "not much" more faded the the seat that wasnt done! im starting to think twice about this steamer!

Are u blowing the steam directly on the seats, any cleaners, what about the steamer pressure settings

Is it possible that all the protectants and conditioners that were removed.from the panels and seats were darkening the material and now it just appears faded.

I used the btriangle brush head with a terry towel folden in half and wrapped around it so it wasnt direct steam. Cobra, it removed the black dye im guessing because i tried dressing it again and it still shows through it! I got the vx5000 and i dont think you can lower the heat setting on it..

Even the best equipment in the world can't make you a good detailer on its own, you have to learn how to use it properly/safely/effectively or you won't get the results and could even cause damage (as you've found).

Hmmmm, my Gaia has never done that.

cobra, no the towel did not turn black

shiny, obviously i am glad i did it on my own car not a customers car "as I always try new things out with my car before using it on somebody else!" i put in the order for the doyles dvd. i also tried getting wax build up out the exterior trim and it really didnt budge it at all I had to use a tooth brush I can say it softened it up and it was a breeze to remove but i guess i was just expecting more. Did do a good job on my tile though lol

Lucky thats the only damage. You can re-dye that section pretty easily

I've got $100 if you wanna get rid of the vx5000 :poke:

Well i would go $200. I love mine, so does the misses.

Look on the bright side, you can practice dying interiors now.

that plastic part is only 11 bucks thank god. but how can i safely use it on interiors? im iffy to use it on interiors now.

I was watching the mini clip on renny doyle using the steamer on the interior and he was using it on the same spots i was. I wonder what im doing wrong? Can you lower the heat of the vx5000? do you use the high pressure setting or low pressure setting with the towel over the brush head?

Did it damage any other interior pieces ? I guess it pays to do a test spot first in a inconspicuous area. I have been interested in the machine that you have and this is the first time I have seen a problem posted. Can you tell us more about your use of the steamer on this incident ? Like single or multiple passes or steam only or cleaner added. Any info on the technique you used would be appreciated.

I was steam cleaning my leather seats today and it looks like I started to take a layer of I'm guessing dye on one of the arm rests. I didn't have heat on it for too long either. First time this has happened to me.

i did the door and the leather seat and it did seem to make it look a bit more faded but not by much.

Like single or multiple passes
i made about two or 3 passes
steam only or cleaner added
steam only
. Any info on the technique you used would be appreciated.
I used the triangular brush head with the clips to hold the towel with a terry towel folded in half so there is no direct steam.
