Chemical guys stuff came!

I love the CG V-7 product, been using it for about a year. I did just get my first taste of Blackfire Wet Diamond on bogo recently and must say I find them both very comparable on my Black GC. I'd have to give a very slight edge on the shine side to the BF. Either product you can't go wrong, or better yet get both. I did mine with CG Blacklight topped with Souveran and wiped down with Blackfire Wet Diamond last weekend and it is amazing. One thing for sure, no matter how many times I use Blacklight it never ceases to amaze me. As a stand alone product it's hard to beat.

I'm a big fan of BFWD myself. They had a BOGO?! Can't believe I missed out on that one!

I'm torn now between BFCS and CGV7... Maybe I'll try them both. :)

So how often should i re apply Black Light?

Same for the V7? should i do a spray down with the V7 after every wash, and then apply the Black Light maybe once a month?

Or is this something I should be doing each weekly wash?

The Black Light has abrasives, so I wouldn't use it every week.

The V7 is a sealant, and should last a few weeks.

I'd use the V7 every fourth wash and a spray wax after every wash in between (assuming you wash once a week).

Of course, that's an opinion coming from someone who lives in South Florida where it is blazing hot sun / torrential downpour every day in the summertime. Products tend to not last as long on our cars during summer. YMMV.

That looks awesome :xyxthumbs:

Good to hear about the trim gel- being a MINI person, we are always in search of trim products since our cars have that black stuff all the way around our cars.

Question: How is the Black Light with dark colors?

I live in central FL so i get the issue with rain / FL sun... luckily my garage sits in the garage unless for some reason we need a 7 person truck. I dont get my license back till next week (after 6 yrs yay!) ...

I think i will do the black light every month of so... and the V7 spray after each wash.

I need to find a new wax to apply after each weekly wash, before the V7 spray and wipe... Id like to stick to some CG product...

was thinking: Chemical Guys WAC_104_16 - Butter Wet Wax (16 oz)

Would that be something I could apply after a wash before a V7 spray down?

Wash > Clay > Compound > Polish > Glaze > Sealant > Wax

Wax gets applied after a sealant.

Butter Wet is a good choice. I love Pete's 53. Great wax for the money if your just looking for a wax to go over the Black Light both are fairly priced easy to use and leave a good shine. Black Light does have abrasives in it so it acts a an AIO. I would say use it once a month if you have hard clear coat. You would have to check with CG but I'm not aware of anyone one saying it can cut a scratch resistant or ceramic cc. Give them a call.

Wax gets applied after a sealant.

Im assuming this would be the "monthly" wash? I wouldn't want to compound every week!

Wash - Maguiars Gold Class
Clay - Quick Prep wash mitt and clay for the small parts
Compound - any suggestions from CG?
Polish - any suggestions from CG?
Glaze - BlackLight
Sealant - CG V7
Wax - CG Butter Wet

The V7 is a sealant, and should last a few weeks.

In the current test im conducting, V7 has lost half of its initial effectiveness in, i kid you not, 4 days after initial application.

My car is a DD, parked outside... 12 miles from the Pacific...with a caveat that there is a road i travel for 1/2 a mine to and from work that is being torn up to be repaved.. so there is excess dust. However, after one wash, i found the slickness and that shine pop to have diminished half of what it was upon initial application and then curing into day two, when its said to be best.

Gonna have to agree with you on that one. I applied the Black Light an V7 on thursday and after 3 Florida thunderstorms the slickness def is not there.

I didnt apply a wax after the V7 though. Im going to try that next.

yayer! im not crazy afterall :iagree: LOL :applause:

I had a similar thought to lock in the V7 optimal shine. I am gonna be starting testing on mixing V7 with D156 to see if i can [fingers crossed] fine tune and maximize the shine and lubrocity of V7, with the longevity and all around versatility and ease of application of the D156...

i will stay tuned for your results though :dblthumb2:

Gonna pick up these products today along with a nanoskin prep towel...

Will post results this weekend...

Chemical Guys COM_103_16 - CGC-1 Ultra Light Compound (16 oz)

Chemical Guys GAP_108_16 - Pro Polish Nano 3n - Superior Finish High Gloss Paint Correction Polish and Protectant (16 oz)

Chemical Guys BUFX_104HEX4 - Hex-Logic Medium Light Polishing Pad, White (4 Inch)

Chemical Guys WAC_104_16 - Butter Wet Wax (16 oz)

Chemical Guys WAC_CLY_100_16 - Luber - Synthetic Lubricant & Detailer (16 oz)

make sure to get the FINE grade towel... if you do purchase. The medium is notorious for marring

i havent used the towel, but from reading enough from VERY credible sources here and other places, the mitt offers more control and is less aggressive...

i suppose that is one of the main reasons ive been seeing the towels so cheap, trying to liquidate the product

id also offer the advice that there are several products better than some you listed there.. BUT IN PARTICULAR this stands out the MOST>>>> M205 is MUCH MUCH better than the CG checmical fine grade.. ive used both and the results arent even close IMO....plus u get 32oz of M205 for i think something along the lines of $7-8 more!!!

I wonder how M205 would compare to their Phase V polish / compound...

I kinda like sticking all with the same brand...

Mix and match man, mix and match. For the most part I have started out as a MEGS man, I also love 3M. But as noted before,,, I’m a hobbyist, so I also look for the most bang for the buck. Looking into Gator glow right now also. Its at NAPA, So I can get it off the shelf, but I think ultima or maybe the D114 or D115 might be a better deal.

Eventuly i will but as this will be my second purchase id like to have a whole shelf in the garage of just CG stuff haha

Got all my stuff today! Except for the compound.

How bad would be it be to skip from Clay - Polish - Glaze - Sealant - Wax and not do the compound. My paint is in pretty good condition (I think).

Post a pic of your paint in direct sunlight or while using a Brinkmann.

A good rule of thumb is to use the least aggressive method of correction, so the compounding step could be avoided completely if you are able to remove the swirls on your paint with a polish.
