Chemical guys

Most of their stuff is hyped up average stuff.

However the following should be on every detailers shelf:

Citrus wash and gloss

V series polishes

EZ creme glaze

Blacklight

That's probably the most succinct description of the CG's line I have ever seen. How do you explain those must-have's? Were they not plucked off the Warner's shelf with the rest of the average stuff?

90% of most of this stuff is hype, so why pick them out.

Ain't that the truth. CG's is one of the hype-iest, but that's just their MO.

Was just wondering how many of you are using just chemical guys stuff? id love to see you collection of CG stuff! I just ordered a bunch of items and cant wait to try them out.

Just wondering OP, are you affiliated with Chemical Guys in any way?

I like CG products. Aside from wheel dressings, I haven't used any I thought were good. They go on and look good but after about one day you can't tell anything was there. I do agree that their marketing is screwed.

I use a little bit of their stuff. I normally will stray away from it because they have 15 different glazes, 40 different APC's. Too much of the same stuff with a different label.

Maybe some MF's, EZ Creme Glaze, and Citrus Wash. That's about it.

The only two products I love from them is Fabric Clean and Nonsense, havent tried more than a handful of their products past that really.

I do love my stripper scent, purple stuff, bubble gum and new car scents.

Then Megs must be very shady.

Meguiard has different line. Store shelf, top shelf and professional. It's clearly stated and ecen color coded or labeled to see the difference. CG has products that are too much alike and you can't really see any difference in them.

Also, what I meant by shady is that some of their videos on yt have audio issues and thei marketing reminds me of the shamwow guy.

Again, I like a good amount of their products but they need to tell the truth, stop hyping and weed out the so so products.

Think it's a little different. Meg's has their three lines aimed at different markets and its explicitly stated. Cg is all over the place. There's a few other shady brands but ill leave it at that.

Dogfather ^

New car scent smells like simple green
lol, I didn't like it at first because it not the typical new car scent but if you water it down 1:1 and wait a day it smell exactly like new car.

I'll try that lol
It's been a while since I've used it but use it lightly and air it out a bit or leave it over night. I think they got the smell almost spot on, it's just not the usual new fcar scent I think most people are used to.

I tried Purple Stuff. Seems pretty good. Gave my floor mats a couple shots and I can still smell it a couple days later. Every now and then ill get a whiff of it at work which I'm assuming is coming off my shoes. I've tried the citrus obe, smelled nice but didn't last at all.

I have began to switch over to a lot of CG stuff. I have been really impressed with both their products and customer support.

They always have products on sale too. However, they do seem to over hype their stuff. They've answered a lot of my scrub questions over the phone too. I just wish their 5 day master class was less expensive...3200!

I strongly disagree with the "hype" comment. I have used numerous CG products and continue to do so. The only product I was dissapointed with was the Glassworkz glass cleaner, but most glass cleaners disappoint me. Everything else I have used from them has exceeded my expectations, especially Blacklight and Pete's 53, 50/50 etc. And Silk Shine is the only interior / exterior I use now. For the average hobbyist iwith a daker colored car it's hard to beat the Blacklight, Pete's 53, V-7 Combo they sell.

My dd 2003 non garage kept Xterra with just that combination.

i was at chemical guys about a week ago picking upsome products and i dont understand why there is so much hatred...sure Greg is a lil fruity and they do have a lot of very similar products but its a smart marketing strategy (its our job to do the research on what we actually need or what works great and that is where forums come into play) problem with that is a lot of biased reviews come into play and some reviews are just out there with no experience with said products

i picked up maxi suds, hybrid v7, nonsense , v36, stripper scent lol, and they had a rack of clearance items(partially used 16oz items by their students) for $5 so i picked up a couple things such as metal wax, wash n gloss, honeydew and some smartwax products which one of the guys indirectly told me its pretty much the same thing as chemical guys products with very minimal differences (doesnt take much to figure that out but i was surprised he willingly told me )

all the products worked very well specially the v7 and the nonsense which i distributed in 3 bottles a 20:1, 10:1 and a 5:1 and i have some left over on the 16oz bottle.

my friend who was looking for interior leather cleaning products had picked up 3 bottles. i cant tell you what they were because i wasn't familiar with them and we were in a hurry so i didnt ask him but upon checkout the guy asked my friend if he had pictures of the interior or how he planned to go about it. once my friend explained his product choice he told him it wasnt necesary and that we could use a product i was purchasing (nonsense) to substitute a product he was gonna purchase and then he told him to purchase a diff product to condition the leather. so instead of paying roughly $30 for products my friend spent $8 for the product which was on clearance and $2 on a bottle with sprayer and gave me $3 to split partial of the nonsense product at a 20:1 ratio. They seemed like fair honest people when i was there. While i was there a guy showed up with what he suspected was a defective eco wash machine thing ( idk the name). Greg right away asked him whats wrong or whats it doing and immediately found the problem and the owner started laughing because it was a simple fix. the owner was about to leave but before he did Greg offered them a free product from the $10 clearance section because he felt bad they they had to drive out there for such a small easy fix. Now i know its not that big of a deal but since it wasnt their fault he didnt have to offer the guy anything.

By no means am i a chemical guys fan boy since a lot of the stuff i use is from various companies like everyone else in here but from my first hand experience at there Inglewood location and good outcome with their products i would say they are not that bad

i will agree that the stripper scent freshner does not last long at all but the smell is spot on hahah

im waiting for my AMMONYC emergency spit shine to come in so i can compare it with hybridV7 since these seem to be one of the more mainstream youtube products/ or hype products like you guys say .....was very impressed with V7 though so we shall see

edit: their microfiber towels/brushes mitts etc are the same exact thing that a shop called 3D where i live carries ..pretty sure 3D is the seller of HD and the tags and finish are literally exactly the same

^^ well said. Honestly I go their store 1-2 a month, theyre nothing but cool and nice to everyone that walks in. Much like the AutoGeek crew I met at SEMA. Everyone can pick some bad products from any companies line. CG does have some gems though.

I own a few of their products, tried a few of the soaps and dressings. I like most of their stuff with the exception of their polishes. No thank you. HoneyDew and CW&G are some of my favorite soaps and I recently picked up the HyperCoat, it's okay. BL+V7 combo is pretty solid too.

If you buy right, their products can be a good bargain if the product works well.

Reporting from New Jersey and I love chemical guys, their packaging sucks I have had a few to many leaks, it's a long way to the Atlantic coast. They should be a lot more clear about their product line!!!

Lmaoo you said he's a little fruity

I think sometimes that the Chemical Guys are their own worst enemy. Their marketing does come off as cheezy and they say some things in their videos and item descriptions that may be believable to people who don't know any better. But I can see how the knowledgeable & experienced detailer would find some of their claims ridiculous and shady.

I admit I fell victim to the hype in the beginning, so I have had the opportunity of using alot of their stuff. My experience has been that some of it is overrated, some of it isn't.

The V-line of polishes is extremely overrated in comparison to a high-end brand like Menzerna.

I've used their air fresheners, both the regular and "highly concentrated" versions. They smell good, but neither one lasts very long.

The one product I do think performs very well is their VRP Dressing. I use it on my tires and it works awesome and lasts a long time. One of the best dressings I've ever used. I do have some PERL on the way though which I plan on using un-dilluted on my tires to see how it compares to VRP, so the jury is still out on that one until it gets here.

At the end of the day I think you just have to experiment and see what works and what doesn't. But think about it this way, the guy that tells you all the time how tough he is...probably ain't that tough.
