So I've been here in Chicagoland since Dec of 2009 and last weekend was the first time I made it to this show. Growing up in the D I went to Autorama quite a bit but as I've gotten older and been into different cars and actually DOING something with your car other than bowing down infront of them, I decided to give it a go

I bought 2 discounted tickets through O'Reilly, $4.00 off total, atleast we parked for free. It was still $46.00 for 2 tickets, so I had high expectations. Sadly I'd give the show a 6 out of 10, not as much quality as I was expecting. Now your about to see alot of pics, namely the first couple cars which were STUNNING but overall, kinda of a DUD

I have "lotto" muscle cars, this 70' Chevelle is the correct color, stance and rims The 71' Cuda, a one year, look, is right behind a black 68' Charger for my favorite Mopar (there you go Pauly)

Yeah red is too cliche' for me but that AAR had modern sized rims, always like that

Forgot where we went to eat lunch, best Italian beef sandwich around, one of those "little places" you just have to know about

Great looking cars. Those RX7's really speak to me. You rarerly see RX7's on the roads any more (likely because they rusted away) and first gens are really rare.

Too bad so many of those cars are roped off and you can't get very close. Seeing them up close and getting a good look at the interior is often just as interesting as admiring the outside.

Better than Portillo's? Realize it's a massive chain for your Chicago types, but when we're in town it's a don't-even-think-about-not-going place for us and far better than anything we have locally.

"Slightly" better than Portillo's. The long timers here say their quality had gone down since selling out years ago but to me, I've been here 13 yrs, Portillo's is ALWAYS good. When I go back home to the D for a visit I've gotta try the one there, it's all automotive themed inside

Hey Nate, I've shown you pics of my buddy's SA Rx-7, right

Can't say that I've seen them. I like to think my BRZ is a long lost descendant of those RX-7's and the early Z cars.

There's an RX-7 in a garage about 5 houses down from me. The only thing I can tell you about it, is that it is painted with Chameleon paint. I've never heard it run, and I've never seen it on the road, I've never seen it out of the garage actually. Such a shame.

That's a beauty; tastefully modded.

It's getting a fuel cell, as in racing fuel cell? Does it run in some vintage racing club?

That is a shame. It kills me to hear stories like that.

Years ago when I was still running, I did a charity 5K in a small town not far from where I work. As we passed through town, I saw no less than 4~5 open garages with some beautiful car just lurking in the shadows, rarely seen and almost never driven. The owners never enjoy them on the road, and other people never get to see them either. I just don't get it. Preservation and care is one thing, never seeing the light of day is another.

He had to go with a fuel cell because cleaning the original gas tank would have had that thing springing a lot of leaks because it's over 40 Years old.

Plus fuel cell looks and sounds a lot cooler than gas tank.
