Chicagoland Detail Day is Sept 23rd!

Sorry about the slow replies guys, I've been extremely busy lately and attending a few weddings over the weekend.

I'm going to go over a few details with some guys who are helping plan it and post up detailed info on how everything will go, etc. At this time, I'm thinking start time should be around 10am and lasting a good 3-5hrs. I'll probably want to close up shop by 5-6 latest but I doubt people will want to detail for 7-8hrs on a Sunday anyway :). In short, duration of the meet doesn't really matter, but I'm thinking we start around 10. Everyone fine with that? If most attending prefer earlier or later we can do that too so just let me know.
 
10 a.m. sounds great to me Ivan. Now do you have an additional car for us to detail besides the Civic? I don't blame you for looking to keep your doors open for 3-5 hrs and if anything we can hang out and bs in the parking lot when your ready to close up and enjoy the rest of your day off.

Thanks once again for allowing our get together at your shop Ivan, this is going to be epic!

Gentlemen, I want to try to at least make an appearance. I am getting back from my honeymoon the night before though, so thats the only thing thats keeping me to saying yes for sure.
 
Sounds good. I'll be making a 2-2.5 hour trek up that way. I was also thinking about bringing up some travel size shampoo bottles from the dollar store. If people wanted to trade samples, we would have that option.
 
3-5 hours doesn't leave you guys much time. Hopefully Ivan can have the cars already washed and ready for sanding/polishing :xyxthumbs:

LOL.....My two bottles of Old Spice, for a bottle of BF Polish. ;-) I'm almost 100% positive they sell empty bottles.
 
I definitely have interest in this event, I don't know what products I would have that others probably don't already have. I would like to be able to use a rotary. How many spots are left? If all the spots are taken I would like to even just swing by.

*edit* I really like to come if you guys have a spot and don't mind someone a little less experienced.

I'll be driving down my '04 WRX wagon. It ain't the prettiest but it gets the job done.

Ivan and I discussed a few things for the detail day yesterday. Start time is 10AM, and the end time is sort of open but obviously its a Sunday and some of us would rather not be detailing a car all day on our day off, so we should go for about 3-5 hour or so.

To reiterate, this is NOT a school. There won't a structured lesson plan for the day, we're leaving it very relaxed and open to whatever you guys want to do.

We will have at least one vehicle to work with, if anybody has a vehicle that ISN'T in a highly detailed state and they wouldn't mind having a bunch of strangers work on, speak up. For the sake of not messing up each other's vehicles, we're going to refrain from doing any intensive or aggressive paint correction. I will try and scrounge up a couple of test hood to bring with that people can try more risky machines/products/techniques with.

I really like the idea of bring small bottles of products to trade. I think I'll head over to the dollar store as well and pick some up bottles to fill.

Since it's going to be in the middle of the day I'm thinking we could all chip in and order some pizzas for lunch?
 
Yeah the pizza idea is great, along with trading and I've got a bottle of Griot's Best of Show that I would trade for something that interests me.....anyone?

Add Opti Coat 2.0 and Opti Clean to my list of items to bring. I just ordered up 4 tubes of Opti Coat 2.0. Gonna bring a tube up if someone wants to apply it on a panel.

I've got a Dodo Juice Supernatural machine stick that I have only used on two cars.

Well.....according to my supplier this morning, I might not have the Opti-Coat after all. Sorry folks. He made it sound like a sure thing.

I'll trade yah, why did you only use it twice? I don't use the GG BOS because I've got so many other things to use, there's a fair amount of it left in the bottle:props:
