Chicagoland Detail Day is Sept 23rd!

It was a blast, Gentlemen!!
Nice to meet everyone.
Thanks to Ivan and 2old2change for setting this up and having all of the different products to try.

Let's do this again, soon! :dblthumb2:

Having dinner right now but today was great, nice to put a face with a (screen) name. I learned about the wheel but if/when I get one that's a step aboved my GG, I'll will speak with all of you guys for sure, still unsure about it, even though you guys said I did pretty good on my 2nd time around....according to you guys.

Certainly broke the ice and it makes me wanna try to be better for sure. My g/f really appreciated the help on her car and says thanks for letting her car be a test bed.

Hopefully our next meet we all line up and just go to town on one car and just nail it, that will make for a great video to put up on the site, huh!

The BlackLight finished awesome, thanks to whomever's product we used, I know there were a couple bottles, couldn't be happier! I actually got over to my buddy's afterwards and tried out that sample of the QD and it too worked great, I'm looking to look into this guy's stuff for sure, hook up the little guy!

I think all the pics should go into the Show and Shine section FWIW, thanks guys!

We had a great time at the meet. Thanks to Forrest from Mothers for the samples. WE got to do this again. People in other cities should set up there own detailing meet, its a great time meeting and talking with other like minded people.

Sorry I didn't make it out. I completely forgot about this.

I had a great time today at the first annual Chicagoland Detailfest, hopefully this was the first of many more to come. It was really nice to now be able to put a face with a name. Thanks to all those involved in setting this up today and thank you Ivan for opening up your shop to all of us today. The Sarpinos Pizza was kick a$$.

I would really like to thank Forrest and Jimmy D from Mothers for being so generous and helping support the event. There were lots of nice door prizes given out and samples bottles of Carnauba Wash and Wax, Show Time Detailer and Synthetic Wax for everyone. To just name a couple of the door prize winners off the top of my head Ivan won the grand prize (no he didn’t draw his own ticket) Mothers wash bucket with a half gallon bottle of Carnauba Wash and Wax, VLR and a bottle of the new Synthetic Wax, Paul S (2old2change) won a Mothers t-shirt and a clay bar kit numerous others won bottles of different Mothers products.

For those that couldn’t make it you really missed out on a good time. There was lots of very good information and products shared by everyone there. It was a good time to try out that product that you had always wondered about buying, there was no shortage of products to test. There’s always something new to learn, I know I picked up some good tips, sometimes it’s just a little tweak to something that makes a world of difference in the finished product. I finally got to use a 3401 today and will be putting one on my Christmas list this year.

Here are a few pictures I took there will be many more to come I saw quite a few cameras flashing.

Dear Chicagoland,

Thanks so much for your hospitality and education. Although I "got a yearn'g to be turn'g", that Flex did not make it to Iowa.

Thanks again to Ivan and everyone else who made this happen.

David

Wish I coulda been there. I get to Chicago tomorrow afternoon for our daughter's 21st birthday surprise party.

Thanks to everyone that help put this together. I had a great time and learned a lot.

Ivan thanks for letting us use your shop and sharing some tips with us. Forrest thanks for the products and I will be picking up some mothers polish.

Can't wait to have another get together great to meet fellow autogeeks.

First I would like to give a big shout out to Ivan for hosting this event and Forest and Garry Dean for the great products on hand to try out along with the free samples. We did end up with 10 members by the end of the get together. It was great to meet the forum members and share both products and knowledge with one another. If I can get the grand kids to give me a hand I will try and post a few of the pictures that I took today. Again I had a good time and look forward to doing more of the same when possible.

Paul, I checked out Garry Dean's website, very inspirational story there, the guy is confident in his business and it really helps to put that much effort, time and money into the business, the guy has a shop AND is mobile, awesome and then there's the issue of him having his own product line to his own specs, icing on the cake. After checking that out last night I will getting some of his products for spring clean up 2013 for sure, not to mention some CC Blacklight, that product finished so nice!

Also big thanks to Forrest for providing the Mother's samples/prizes for us, I'm going to try out that synthetic wax as soon as its warm enough, can't say I've ever tried Mother's wax but I'm sure they make a solid product, you have to nowadays, that's for sure!

At our detail day you got to try products from "the little guy" and the "big guy", one more reason why its nice to have things like this, you get to try out both products, side by side and take them home and try em' out for yourself too.

Ofcoarse none of this would be possible w/o Ivan stepping up and offering his shop, for longer than he said mind you and we all appreciated it....BIG TIME! Also, thanks to Underground Racing as well, hope to meet some of them at some point next time as well. I'm going to start a pic thread if there isn't one already started, haven't gone out to see if we've got one yet.

Had a great time meeting everyone as well and trying out a few products I never got a chance to try before, mainly the Meg's 101 and the Dynabrade attachment.

As I said before, I just provided the space, didn't host much of anything :). We'll definitely plan on doing this a few times a year, if anything to have a bunch of like-minded individuals hanging out.

That sounds about right. These events never turn out as planned :dblthumb2:

PS...Did Ivan show up?

I just have to ask why you're wondering if I showed up? When I first saw the question, I thought for a second that somehow you were with me drinking Sat night and were asking as a joke because you know who drank a bottle of tequila by himself :).
