Hi guys im looking for a new shop vac but I understand in researching them that horse power is not the most important spec to look at

Can someone help me how do I tell what the suction pressure rating is and how to read it?

I know a lot of you use a ridged thatts cool but I want the biggest bang for my buck.

please help.

I love all my ridgid vacuums. They SUCK!! Mine is similar to the one above minus the wheels. I got it on sale for $39 instead of the one shown above and I bought 2. They are little but have 5hp and they are great! You can't go wrong, I would stay away from the shopvac brand, bad experiences!

I have the DP shopvac that AG sells that was a gift to me for Christmas. I haven't used the wet suction side of it but I'm extremely impressed with the dry side. Amazing suction and it is VERY quiet. I'd recommend if you have the $$. It's easily capable of picking up a car mat with the suction if the mat isn't attached in some way. The hose screws in the the main unit and is a nice length. Lots of details they go right with the unit.

Thanks for the tip on this shop vac fellas. I was looking to upgrade my 8 gallon 2 hp shop vacuum (about 15 yrs. old). I went out and purchased the WD4070 and the car kit today. Rolop, you are correct this shop vac SUCKS BIG TIME. Because of issues with the previous vacuum spitting out dust from the exhaust port, I also purchased the muffler/filter for the vacuum to eliminate this and to cut down the db a bit. I measured sound levels as 91 db without the muffler and 83 with the muffler, so it knocked it down a bit.

Question on the Premium Car kit. What are the 2 adapters (large coupling and what looks like a reducer) used for? This kit renders all the tools that came with the shop vac unusable with the new hose, plus you can't use the 2 extenders with the hose - not that I need to, but just an observation.

Thanks...Al

It's for if you have the bigger hose if I remember right but not sure I have never need so didn't care.
