Chrome wheel issues

So what was the problem with them? Did owner put wrong cleaner?

Ok, well learned something new. Stupid question but how can you clean chrome rims without scratching them?

No worries. I learn something new daily. Lol. Well, '000' or '0000' steel wool is pretty safe on chrome. Harder than the steel wool iow. I used 'wadding that is inside the can of Never Dull and it's super soft. Like durable cotton. Doesnt leave behind any scratches.

It’s funny you ask that because my question has always been “how in the heck did the previous owner scratch these chrome wheels”?!
I’ve inherited chrome wheels with scratches that look like someone had to have taken a freaking brillo pad of maybe 1 of those Chore Boys or even a wire brush in order to inflict such havoc on the wheels.
I’ve personally never been able to reproduce such scratches via normal cleaning methods no matter how aggressive it had to be. That type of stuff is just flat out inexcusable for someone to have done. Lol.

Good job on those wheels Goonie. It’s up to the owner to simply maintain them clean from now on.

Hey Ric, would Meguiars tire and wheel cleaner work on chrome, or should I stick to a dedicated chrome cleaner?
Reason I got 1 gallon of the Meguiars wheel and tire cleaner and want to see what rims can I use it on effectively?

Came out looking amazing!!!Hi folks. So I did the wheels today on the 2009 Tahoe. Original wheels, factory, chrome. 34,000 miles on vehicle.
I suppose the dots left over are called pitting, but not sure. Its definitely in the wheel/chrome. So those are beyond my capabilities. Lol
Gonna go with some sort of corrosion. IDK.
Came out nearly perfect aside from the dots in the wheel. Thanks a lot for your help.

Blew dry
Eagle One Never Dull
P21s Polishing Soap
Eraser
Gyeon Rim (client requested vs other sealant)
Took a couple of hours but came out nice.

The first photos reminded me of a set of chrome “bundt” wheels I purchased off eBay for my fathers old Mercedes. It was stored in the winter but a number of years later the chrome lifted off the lip and inside edges in a lot of small soft flakes. The wheel was missing the copper coat when chromed..... It was not triple plated. It was nickel plated then dipped. The price was cheap for a reason.
