I have flitz metal polish, s100, 845 and Wolfgang sealant. Which of these would you guys use and in which order?
I'm thinking flitz, s100 , 845 then sealant. Is there any I should skip?
Sounds like you have a good plan! :xyxthumbs:
-Just remember that "decorative chrome" chromium-plating is very, very thin:
A few millionths of an inch, at best.
-So a person doesn't want to ever, in the truest sense of the words:
Perform a Polishing Step to "decorative chrome"...
as would be done, for example, to bare-aluminum.
From the manufacturer/factory: It is as "shiny", as it's ever going to get.
For chromed-wheels I first use:
-
S100 (wheel cleaner)
Then I use either:
-
The Turtle's: Chrome Polish and Rust Remover.
It contains a slurry of superfine pumice (a form of silica) as its abrasives to remove stains and rust.
Discourages further rust-formation.
Or:
-
Collinite's: #850 Metal Wax.
It contains a slurry of calcined diatomaceous earth (also a form of silica) as it's abrasives...
Along with some morpholine.
(Morpholine can be used as either: A corrosion-inhibitor, a solvent, or an optical brightener.)
I use these (and other) chrome-polishes as such:
-Application with a soft applicator using very little downforce
-Removal by soft towels using very little rubbing-action
-Buff with another clean, soft towel
Seal/Protect with:
-
Wolfgang DGPS
-Other Sealants
-No "carnuba-waxes".
NOTE:
Go with the products you have on hand.
"Polish" with:
Flitz...using "cautionary guidelines".
