What about cleaning the wheels, tires, wheel wells, and the door jambs?
 
Excellent article, easy and fun to read and very well illustrated. As a semi newbie with a black car I have subscribed to this thread. Thanks for writing it.

Not that I'm good at writing a great title, but it is important. I have a section my article list just for articles on "how to interact on discussion forums", kind of hokey but I don't see anything replacing things like vBulletin discussion forums anytime in the near future.

And anyone that has a "classic" vB is good to go. Just because they introduce an updated version doesn't mean it's a "good thing".

If it ain't broke, don't fix it...

I did forget the door jambs, thanks for the reminder. I'll probably hit them with a WW tonight. My wheel wells are pretty bad, there's tar of some kind stuck to the plastic liner that I need to get off. I am planning on removing the wheels and addressing wheel wells, wheel cleaning as well as polishing in future posts. Good question though.

The basic order I'm looking to do things in is in this post, although this may suffer from the same bad title problem, good lesson learned for me going forward...

I'm thinking it might be safer/easier to do the wheels first. This is especially true if you're not removing them for separate cleaning. And if you do remove them, you can clean the wheel wells without worrying too much about splashing or spraying onto the rest of the car.

I am actually planning on removing them. It will make it easier for photographing the work and I am going to need the access to the wheel wells. I probably should've made that clearer...
 
Good post and pics!!!! I must say tho....that looked like aluminum foil covering the alternator, that is just asking to short out the positive battery connection to ground. I would use plastic bags for sure.

Thanks for the tip. Hadn't thought of it before. I'm lucky on this car since the battery is in the trunk, but I'll keep that in mind for my other vehicles and anytime I do this in the future.
