Clay bar on windshield?

If the Griot's glass clay is a marketing gimmick to get you to buy another jar of clay, at least it's way cheaper than paint clay. They also have wheel clay that is also cheaper than paint clay. If nothing else, you have an easy way to keep the clay separate to prevent cross contamination and you don't have to buy expensive paint clay.
Of course that's if you stay in the Griot's family (which is very good clay IMO).

if its cheaper then the paint clay then its either lower quality or you are getting a lot less of it. im going to clay my windows today then seal them, can you get glass polish at autozone or walmart?

For windows, it's a Cobra clay mitt & Dodo Born slippy. Clean it first with a glass cleaner without rain repellent.
The mitt doesn't leave clay in the pits, the Born slippy is a shampoo based lube which leaves a layer of soap,
use water to rinse & wipe till clean.
Polish depends on the condition of the glass, I've tried all kinds,
favorite now Pinnacle finishing polish with a Green pad for serious cleaning.
Pinnacle Glasscoat sealant, with PCC glass cleaner to maintain. Works for me. :props:

really? you can use the same finishing polish that you use on paint?

If your paint has contamination on it, I'd bet your glass does too. I've usually treated the glass like paint.
Wash
Clay
Polish
Protect

Not only does it get cleaner, it stays cleaner longer.

do you use regular paint polish?

Fine steel wool on glass will out perform any clay on glass in less time and will clean it way better and it's 3 bucks for a package.

Glass is a super hard material and requires special pads and a dedicated glass cleaner restorer.polishing glass with paint polish is time and product wasted.Griots glass polish for glass is a great product even by hand why because it's made for glass try it you will like it.

There are plenty of secrets to using a product that it's not intended for and deos a great job.Glass there are no secrets but long time and effort and plenty of elbow power or a machine with glass restoration products such as ceriglass griots glass science and others.when it comes to removing waterspots griots glass polish is really effective.mike Phillips just did a whole article and demo on a car a few days ago.

I'll always use a clay towel or bar on the glass when I do a car. Though not necessary, I'll use a Heavy duty clay, like 3M, when it's available since there's no concern of marring glass.

As for polishing glass: I'm normally not trying to remove swirls. My goal is to remove road film. That is easily done with the same pads and polish you would use in paint.

If I really want to get scratches out of glass, I will use Carpro rayon pads with ceriglass

I use quick detailer for clay lube. Does that stain or affect the plastic trim underneath the windshield?

Yes, whatever I happen to be using on the paint. Like some have stated, it acts as a cleaner more than a scratch remover on glass, but it is already on my pads and ready to go.

Bingo. Exactly.

I typically use ONR or some inexpensive bulk detail spray and have never had an issue. I don't know of any quick detailers that would stain and probably wouldn't use one that stained on anything.

I've tried to consolidate products and speed up the process, and this is one way I can clean glass effectively with products I already have out for the vehicle I'm working on.
