Clay entire car?????

Hi,
I am about to clay my first car and have read that some people only clay the horizontal surfaces, of their vehicles, and not the sides. What to you recommend?

I clay everything. Paint(all of it), windows, and wheels.
 
Agree on entire car...not sure why some people do just parts of the car.
Unless they do the Baggie test and feel it isn't needed?
Doesn't take much more time to do the entire car and it'll only benefit you.
Also helps in removing old LSP and wax buildup...
 
Whole car. Knead clay after each pannel or when you see stuff in it. Legit question:xyxthumbs:
 
I guess I can play devils advocate. From my experience, the horizontal panels are always 100 times worse then the vertical panels which makes sense because whats where all the contaminates land. For me it depends on what I'm doing. If I'm doing paint correction, clay whole car. If I'm stripping old wax/sealant's, clay whole car. If I'm doing my routine claying, I only clay horizontal surfaces.

8 minutes? Do you drive a Hot Wheel car? I drive a 2007 Toyota Corolla so it's a pretty small car. And it still takes me ~20-30 min to clay the whole car. The vertical panels usually go a lot faster because there's not as much stuck on stuff. But still 8 minutes? The Elasta Foam system is much faster then clay but still . . .

I've never heard of anyone skipping panels. If you're going to polish your whole vehicle...then the whole thing should be clayed. I actually find that the sides are usually the worst. They get all the kick back from the wheels and tires. That's typically where you find all those iron deposits from the brakes.

I clay the paint, headlights, chrome, rockers, windows, wheels or anything else that needs it. As long as your polishing...then let the whole vehicle have it.
 
To properly clay an average size car takes about 30 minutes or so. Considering the amount of time and effort to correctly detail the finish it's minimal and worth it....:dblthumb2:
