I think the blue retail Clay Magic 100g blue bars are different than the 200g ones ordered online, but don't quote me on that...

I use Zaino clay and Pinnacle Ultray Poly. Frankly, they both fell apart after using car wash shampoo as lube. Sad!

My Mothers clay doesnt fall apart using soap. Might just continue to use that.

I have used the CM clay for years along with the erazor clays...and I find them very simular...never had a problem with the CM blue and found it very pliable...I was buying the 200 gram bars at the body supply shop...and I used a clay lube also...it was a production detailer and I used it for lube...the clay was always pliable and stretchy..never seen it like Budmans picture....I still use it at times....

What do you use now? Mostly the erazor clay? Got any info on it?

What info do you want...this is what I can tell you now...the Yellow clay is pliable...very tacky...no marring...but some times just not agressive enough for tougher jobs..like real bad paint..severe over spray..then I switch over to the CM red clay...it mars...but gets the job done...

Now the blue CM is very close to the yellow clay...does a fine job ...only difference I seen is its not as tacky...but performance wise...they both do the job very close to each other

Alright, I think Im going to order some CM blue. Is there a difference between the 100 and 200g bars?

I guess that is the difference between the 2 are what the pictures I posted show. One is very elastic and the other crumbles. I have no idea why they are different but the stuff I have gotten OTC (100 g) is junk. This is the kit I've been getting:
autopia_1960_1245537

I guess I'll have to try the 200 gram bar in the future and give CM one final chance...

Good thing I have 7 bars of the erazer clay to fall back on, just incase :).

Where are you guys getting this erazer clay?

Its the same as the 200g bars, thats what i was told by automagic/claymagic.

Ive also used both, they are the same in every way from what i can tell.

Well I just sent over an e-mail to see what they'll have to say to me...

The erazer clay has been out of production for a year now probably. It's available outside of the country though. There may be a few bars kicking around on e-bay or Amazon but I snatched the last few bars when I had the chance though. Riccardo, Soft99 and Smart Wax Clay, I believe are the names that have erazer clay.

I'm going to ask a real dumb question but what does elasticity have to do with ='ing a good clay?

So the clay doesnt just fall apart in your hands.

U always used polyclay for my car, and I got some DP clay for paying details only. I like my DP so much that is trumped my polyclay! :D It is not as elastic, but it gets out alot more. The best part is it doesnt marr that much at all.
It is very cost effective. I havent used it with car soap, only lube or water.

Try the Hi-Tec body sponge. I got one based on a glowing review here about a week ago. Works just like clay, even a little better, certainly faster. It is a rather stiff sponge coated with a rubbery, really tacky substance, about 1/16". It was even stuck to the plastic bag it came in. Used it with a clay-lube mix of ONR. It glides along and you really notice when you hit contaminants. There was no marring, at least no more than clay. The one caveat is that it must be rinsed and wiped frequently. You can feel when its clean. The time it takes to do that is actually less than the time it takes to knead clay, roll it into a ball and then flatten to expose a new surface. As the poster last week said, you cannot use it on tight areas, so you still need some clay for that. Worth a try! I have always resented the fact that I am not permitted to purchase the best clay available, but rather the stuff that is the subject of this OP. There is no way any court could construe this sponge as being "clay." Perhaps this is the beginning of the end for a certain monopoly.

Several posters have mentioned marring. Do all clays mar some? Which do not mar at all? I'm very new at this and it's clear I need to be careful about what clay to use.

I used the Ricardo clay yesterday to remove the airplane contaminates on my M3, it was Soooooo nice to work with, and reneading the clay was a breeze. But I did see that it didnt clean the surface as fast nor as easy as the harsher clays.

Still my fav clay though!!!!

I havent gotten any marring with Mothers clay.
