I watched a youtube video from chemical brothers where after claybarring a car they just hand wiped some of their paint sealant on and then wiped it off after 20 mins. They didn't buff it in by hand or with a machine buffer at all. Does this work? Is it a good idea to try?

I apply sealants all the time by hand. I actually prefer it.

I question whether it was wise to go from claying right to applying a sealant. I'm assuming the paint had no bonded contaminants to remove which frankly is hard to believe.

Yes it works. Sealants just need to be spread thin and even across the paint and let them do the work of bonding to the paint.

If your not gonna polish wash the car again after claying. If your gonna polish skip wasting the water.

So what would be the in between step between claying and sealant?

So youre saying wash the car, clay the car, wash the car again, and then apply the sealant?

If you clay the car and youre satisfied with the finish and sure all contaminants are removed, then yes going straight to a sealant is fine. You can use a paint cleaner to further deep clean the paint and ensure proper bonding to the paint. It's not a must. But I do it at the very least.

It's not over complicated, just work smart, be patient and enjoy the results.

Paint correction and buffing is an OPTION after claying - not a requirement.

SilverFox- Not sure where the bonded contaminants comment came from after claying since that's the whole point of claying in the first place, unless I misread your post.

Personally I would probably at least buff the paint out after claying, do an ISO wipe down, and then seal it. But it's not required.

Hahaha yeah my bad, I meant chemical guys
