Which one do you use ? I had a few of the clay lubricant/Showtime/final inspection etc...Ran out of those while back.So the purpose of these is making the clay "slide" right ? So the same can be done with your car wash soap diluted in water.

I'm on a tight budge here and car wash soap diluted in water is way cheaper.:xyxthumbs:

So what do you use ?

Thanks

I almost always clay after washing using "soapy water", then rinse the car again and you're done.

I use ONR diluted to clay lube strength. You mix 1/2 oz of ONR in 32 oz of water. Very, very cheap, and its a tried and true method. ONR is a great product. I use it as clay lube and at QD strength to clean interiors (plastic and leather) plus in a squirt bottle for a quick exterior dust removal, and then of course it can be used as a rinseless wash.

I almost always use soapy water as clay lubricant if I am claying the entire car. Sometimes I'll just use clay lubricant for claying small areas so I can see the defect better while working.

ORN is pretty cheap.:props:

You should always have a gallon of onr on hand. Mix it to clay lube strength and you'll be good to go.

both are ok but I prefer ONR or other lube. soapy water requires you rinse every panel to avoid dry soap residue (can be overcame if use a low foam soap and high dilution). ONR is much easier, just wipe off after clay, then done

I just use soapy water during my wash to clay when its a small car, if it's really hot and sunny or a truck/suv I have my clay in one hand and soapy wash mit in the other to pretty much re-wet the surface and not let the soap dry.

i wouldn't cheap out, the vehicles are worth far more than a dedicated clay lube or a dilution specifically made for clay lubing

As long you don't let the soap dry up,should be okay.

soapy water is gonna fk up your clay bar and make it shred to pieces.... dont do it

This is incorrect as I clayed so many cars with soapy water with no problems at all ... just don't put to much soap, you'll be fine.

Another vote for ONR, it's good enough that you know it works, and cheap enough that you don't have to keep buying bottles of dedicated QD lube. Also, at clay lube strength it does leave the car very shiny.

I would say clay lube or ONR. Don't be such a cheapskate. You can pick up some cheap clay lube anywhere.

After buying bottles of dedicated clay lube and running out after a few vehicles i went the ONR route and use it as a dedicated lube now. Its stick, doesnt cause the clay to "stick" and its easy as heck to wipe off when your done, leaves no residue.
