This is incorrect as I clayed so many cars with soapy water with no problems at all ... just don't put to much soap, you'll be fine.

Yup done that too with no ill effects on both the car and the clay bar.

I recently used a soapy water mixture at work...didn't like it. It got the job done, but the clay wasn't keeping it's form as well, compared to if I was using a traditional clay bar lube. It was splitting a lot, not a fan.

I use ONR and a touch of Optimum car wash just to help it out. Works pretty well.
