Just used clay for the very first time this morning. I am to say the least, shocked how effective it is, I've got to be honest but up to a few weeks ago I didn't even know about using it in detailing, for years I've just accepted those tiny little rough bit n bobs that seem to collect on the door panels.
You can't really see them till you get your nose right up to them, but nothing as got them off till now, and what's more They come off so easy! I wish I had know of this years ago.
I'm aware it's old hat to all you seasoned detailers out there and not really note worthy for a topic but I had to shout it out somewhere, And here will do nicely.

It can really make a difference. I've been using them since the 90's when they first came out.
 
I remember my first clay job, I told everyone who would listen. LMAO
 
It's not just me then. Lol. I love it when I get to find something that really does what it claims. I didn't know how long it had been out for till now either, so it came out on the 90 eh?
We had a white car round that time as I remember, still better late than never I'm a proper claying convert now
 
Should read, 'so it came out in the 90s eh?'
This stupid iPad keeps changing what I've put, or think ive put, and if I don't carefully check it all it sneaks a typo in..mm?

For what it's worth, if you have those "bits" on the lower surfaces they may be road tar, which can also be addressed by using solvents. The problem with claying off large tar particles is they become embedded in the clay and can cause marring.

Anyway, it's worth thinking about using some combined process with something like mineral spirits or Tar-X, etc.

I remember the first time I clayed my car. It was silver and I noticed a change in color and clarity of the paint with just that step alone. I've been a huge proponent ever since.
 
I remember my first beer, no wait....Try the speedy prep towel, it will blow your mind. I detail over 100 cars a year and by the end of the season my hands would be cramped up claws. The clay towel was a God Send for me.
 
Nanoskins and speedy prep towels? Carefull guys you will blow my pleasure gland out the waters, one super revelation at a time. Lol
