Good evenign to one and all.

While I have a few years under my belt I still consider myself little more then still wet behind the ears. SO here we go with three dumb questions.

Cleaners - I'm looking for a non-abrasive cleaner to prep the surface after I clay so that I can remove the swirl from my 06 very red GTI. I believe that Meguiar’s has one but I would like some suggestions.

Glazes – If I will be applying a sealant is this necessary, and then depending on the sealant what are my list of candidates. I understand the a glaze can enhance the ‘wet’ look as well as the shine which is what I want but which one.

Sealants – I have Klasse AIO & High Gloss Sealant, and was thinking about picking up some Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant because it is my goal to have more chemicals in the garage then DOW. I hear good things about both, and presently have one coat of Klasse on my GTI now but it is not warm enough to apply more or I would.

Some may products to pick from, and so little time.

Your thoughts please, and my GTI?

My best suggestion would be to browse around in Auto geeks store. Under each product you will find detailed information about them that will aid you in the decision for whats best for you.You can do a search on the stores search box to help narrow things down. I am pretty sure some glazes wont work well with sealants so maybe someone will chime in and give a suggestion about that. Good luck!

If your car has swirls you would like to use a polish like Megs #83, Menz IP or Poorboys SSR 2.5.
After that you can use Klasse AIO to prep the surface as this product is a quemical cleaner and sealant, and Klasse sealant on top of that.

Not dumb questions at all. Here is my shot at them:

I used to buy Meguiars Medallion paint cleaner until they discontinued it (Dang It!). Next I am going to try Bob Daniel's Danase Pure Polish. It should clean the paint very well and prep my car after claying to prepare for compound polishing to remove swirls.

Glazes – If I will be applying a sealant is this necessary, and then depending on the sealant what are my list of candidates. I understand the a glaze can enhance the ‘wet’ look as well as the shine which is what I want but which one.

Glazes are not neccesary but they do give your paint a much "deeper" look that a sealant generally cannot achieve by itself. Less than an hour ago I purchase Danase Wet Glaze.

Sealants – I have Klasse AIO & High Gloss Sealant, and was thinking about picking up some Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant because it is my goal to have more chemicals in the garage then DOW. High Gloss Sealant? Never heard of it. Do you mean Klasse Sealant Glaze? Klasse Sealant Glaze (not really a glaze but a very good sealant) is a good sealant to follow up Klasse AIO with. If your first layer does not give you the depth or warmth you want, feel free to put another layer on. Just give the first layer 12 hours to cure.

Hey Bert31,

All of this is to remove some very light swirl that has been accumulating over the past year, and simple put my five steps are shown below.

I firmly believe that less is more so while I can use M80 to clean & polish I would rather clean and then polish with some a little less like M09, or M82 followed up by a glaze just before putting on the layer of protection. Now I have Klasse but I have heard lots of good words about Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant, and it only money right?

Taking care of my GTI is my little hobby so if I can get to where I want to go doing two light coats of polish as compared to one heavy coats that my clear coat will love me more for it. Right now it is in mid-50’s to low 60’s which is not the best weather to do this but it is a consideration.

My 5 Steps
1) Wash
2) Clay
3) Cleaner
4) Polish
5) Protect

Products in hand
1) Megs NXT
2) Megs #26
3) Megs #80
4) Megs #7
5) Megs ScratchX
6) Megs DC #1
7) Klasse AIO
8) Klasse SG
9) Clay & several Quick detail sprays
10) PC-7424

Cheers

Thanks for the input, and I'll try reviewing the product sheets again. Im the MAN

^ no problem-I did find this for you though- There are 2 types of glazes oil based and acrylic based. Oil based is used when you are finishing off with a carnuba. Acrylic based is used when finishing off with a sealant. Hope that helps.
