Cleaning and Dressing the entire tire side without moving the vehicle

I had read about this tip months ago and finally decided to put it into action today. It worked pretty good for V1.1 and thinking about version 2.0.

I used some left over pressure treated 2x6's and cut them to 22 in. I used my Dakota tires as the worst case. After using 1 time, they should be longer but I was trying to keep the weight down. They could use an end stop (like car ramps so you know when you are in position) and also tethered so you can pull them out easily.





I did not finish until it was dark so no after pics.

I read that same post Al and thought that was cool as well.

When I was taking my wheels off Skybaby to do the rotor hats and calipers I was purchased a low profile jack. Well, the one I needed was quite pricey. The one I purchased was not low enough profile so I pulled my sky up onto 2x4s. It gave me just the extra lift I needed to get my jack under there. And I saved $$

Great idea. I always manage to scrape my knuckles on the concrete driveway trying to get as much as possible covered. Kinda dumb since I always have to roll the car down the driveway a bit to get the bottom section of the tires where I can get to them.

It is a good idea. But I feel like its more work to drag the wood out, get them spaced perfectly, pull the car onto them, clean/dress the tires, pull the car off, then put the wood away. When I could just clean the tires, dress the top half, move the car forward or back a few feet, then dress the other side and DONE!

I tried the 2x4 , but I had problems . I would spin out . then again with big lug truck tires I'd suggest a 2x6 or 2x8 . I usually end up driving completely over the board then gotta back up ..... pain in the butt to me . anyways tires are the last thing I do so I don't mind that I have to start it up and move it a few inches . gives me the chance to do another walk around make sure everything is sweet

What? Do you clean the rocks out of the treads? Cleaning and dressing a sidewall would do absolutely nothing for traction and braking so what are you talking about?
