Cleaning carpet on the cheap?

I too use a Little Green, non-heated, with Meg's APC diluted 10:1 and a stiff scrub brush on stubborn areas and your good to go! I have tried the carpet brush attachment for the DA, but prefer the Little Green. Taking all this in consideration, I'm not working on trashed out "Kiddo Haulers".

The reason I am being kind of anal about choosing what to buy is when I bought the car 6 months ago it had a little mildewy smell but after I took a dollar store rubber brush and my 2.5hp shop vac to it I got a lot of crap out. Old french fries, food crumbs, cat vomit, white cat hair (which was EVERYWHERE). The smell went away somewhat but now even when using the dollar general carpet cleaning stuff (the can with the brush attached to it), it still smells a little. I'm thinking I just need to deep clean it of all the years of invisible dirt/bacteria because really it looks spotless besides the stray cat hair here in there. And plus when I wipe the seats and carpet with a napkin it comes up brown on the napkin.
