Hey everyone i was watching this video here: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R5w80FOCKko&feature=plcp]Chemical Guys Metal Shine - Stainless Steel & Chrome Polishing - YouTube[/video]. This guy first uses waterless car wash to clean the exhaust pipe and remove any dirt. Then he uses 0000 steel wool with some sort of lubricant to clean the exhaust pipe of any asphalt and what not. then he polishes using microfiber towel. Seems like a good way to clean a exhaust pipe. My only question is what lubricant should i use when using steel wool as he used "CG glassWORKZ" (glass cleaner) so should i use any class cleaner? is this the best way to clean exhaust pipe? for metal polish i have optimum. thx

I use steel wool and wheel acid if they are bad. Wax and steel wool works well too.

Yes you could just use your existing glass cleaner and polish.

You do not see many videos on metal cleaning techniques.

The problem is many tips can get pitted so cannot get perfect. It is important to work clean since all the rubbing can add scratches.

I have never heard about using a glass cleaner as the lube for steel wool. I had used Mothers Chrome Polish but polishing metal is not something I do much.

BTW, The truck has some nice halograms in the paint.

IMO...This guy's cleaning/polishing of SS kind of goes against the grain, so to speak.

(I wonder if he's the same guy that's responsible/assists in the: "write-ups"...
of the disambiguous product-descriptions, that's too often found on Chemical Guys' web-site?!?!)

I noticed that also: who cares about the exhaust tip when the paint looks like that?

I was on their YouTube channel some time ago and after watching a couple of videos I called it a day: rubbish...

can you guys please link me to a video/forum thread that you think is the best way to clean my exhaust pipe

ive used autosol...it is a great metal/chrome polish, however, ive tried to steer clear or steel wool. when i needed a littel something to scour the steel, i used a green 3m or scotchbrite pad. works good and didnt seem to instill any scratching.

Never Dull is a great product for cleaning exhaust tips.
