Is there any products that do well at cleaning old dressing of exterior trim?

It depends on the dressing that was there but most come off with an APC and a good scrubbing. UTTG, Solution Finish, C4 don't come off so easy if at all with APC... Depending.
Ron gave me a tip I've used a few times which is using CG water spot remover.
An important thing to note that I learned recently is that some of these cleaners leave behind something that can affect some trim products. So after cleaning and scrubbing and rinsing and drying it's always good to wipe down with IPA before applying the new trim product.
