Cleaning GM (Cadillac) Chrome Wheels

I've owned a lot of cars in my long life. Every new car that I've owned had after market wheels. IMO wheels sets off a car. I always allow the cost for new wheels and tires when budgeting for that new car purchase.

I'm not a fan of aftermarket wheels (unless they are OEM look alike forged) and I like the factory wheels personally. :) would like to refinish them if I can...

I've done a bunch of Escalades and Suburbans. Unfortunately, this is par for the course with GM wheels on their high end SUVs. The chrome on the face pits and whatever is inside the barrels chips and flakes off. It's shameful on GM's part.

So, what do you do? I have some flaking, but it looks finished chrome underneath. I've emailed a wheel refinishing company for an estimate. Gonna try to use a light wire wheel on the barrels and see what happens first.

Looks like the more it's scrubbed, the nastier it looks. I'd leave it alone, it's probably there for protective reasons.
