Cleaning Groves on Van

Bought a used Dewalt 849 buffer and starting to remove oxidation on the roof of the van. I am having trouble getting the oxidation out of the groves. Should I do these by hand? Tried the buffer and on the groves and burned the edge of the grove. Flat spots are cleaning up good!

Welcome to AG. Do it by hand, that's the only thing I can tell you. I have a PC, you can't get groves with it at all or very little. Maybe someone here can chime in with a better suggestion.
