"Note: The package states that Meguiar's All Purpose Cleaner is good to use on leather. However, the formula contains alkaline salts, which can sometimes, but not always damage leather when used repeatedly. We recommend using a leather-specific cleaner, such as Lexol Leather Cleaner, to properly clean and maintain leather surfaces."

I have been using Optimum Power Clean, diluted 5:1 on my coated leather. Should I be worried?

Do all APC's contain alkaline salts?

I used to use Meg APC+ dilluted 10-1 on leather all the time. But I did notice that on older leather it sometimes did not play nice. It seemed to age/dry it out. Sometimes the color would bleed. It cleaned great. But for saftey reasons I started using Megs dedicated leather cleaner. It doesnt clean as well but the piece of mind knowing im not causing any damage is a good trade off for a little more elbow grease.

Just buy a dedicated leather cleaner as it has been made to clean. Some products have a cleaner and conditioner in one. I like SMARTLEATHER but you can try Lexol to save some $$.

Works ok on coated leather. Probably wouldn't try it on uncoated leather.

I only use leather products on treated leather or untreated leather.

Where is our resident chemist FUNX725? I'm sure he could comment on the alkaline salt bit. I've always used a dedicated leather cleaner to be on the safe side. Detailing is just a hobby for me so I use the pinnacle leather combo for cleaning and conditioning and I'm very happy with it.

I stick to a dedicated leather cleaner also. Really been happy with CG Leather Cleaner. Follow with either CG Pure Leather Conditioner or 303 Aerospace depending on the condition/age of the leather.
