Can you throw your used pads in the washer?
Also, do you guys wash your MF's after each detail?

Is my process correct?

While detailing, once I have used a MF or a pad, I throw it into a bucket. At the end of the detail, I take all my used MF's and pads and throw then in the washer with Micro-restore...

Once done, I throw them into the dryer with just air...

Is this ok? the pads don't get completely dry, but once I put them away they do

Thoughts?

Hey Jeff,

Microfiber towels

I pre-soak my towels in warm water with Dawn and all purpose cleaner for about an hour just to get the worst off. From there into the washer they go with a Microfiber cleaner or regular laundry detergent. From the washer into the dryer on low heat and they come out great. I've never tried the white vinegar in the rinse water though, I always forget to pick some up.

Foam Pads

I've found that Detailer's Pride Pro Series Polishing Pad Rejuvenator works pretty darn nice. I first spray the pads with all purpose cleaner and let them sit. Then into a pail of warm water and cleaning powder. Occasionally I'll squeeze or knead them to circulate the solution through the pad. Once they're clean I rinse them thoroughly then slap them on my rotary for a spin dry. Now I'll sit them on the bench until they're dry.

If I'm still working with them they go from spin dry to back on the polisher and back to work..

Your process is fine. If something works well for you then use it.

I do like Bobby and use DP Pad Rejuvenator for my pads. I usually brush them once they have sat in the solution for a little bit. I saw a post by Mike Phillips about rolling up the pad in a towel and squeezing out the excess water and I've done it and it works well.

MF towels I let build up in a bucket and wash when I have a enough for medium size load. If the towel is real dirty I will spray with APC throw it in a bucket with DP rejuvenator and let it soak. It usually cleans all the junk off before I throw it in the washer. Sometimes I dry then on low heat and other times I air dry them depending on how quick I need them.

If I have enough of them yes, otherwise I let some accumulate and then wash them. Some people like to wash them immediately and there's nothing wrong wit that either...:props:

I have a plastic bin that I throw the microfibers and DAMF pads into. I hit the dirty parts with degreaser and throw them in the wash with the DP microfiber cleaner and some vinegar. Works like a charm.

I always do them at the end of a wash day, or detail day. Otherwise I confuse myself and at times pick up a towel I don't know if dirty or clean. The bucket hamper idea is a good one.

What temp do you guys wash your towels at? Cold, warm, etc...? I always dry on low but am never sure if I should wash in cold or if warm is ok.

I wait till i get enough for a load an seperate the real dirty ones an pre soak them in a bucket with degreaser an dawn. then rinse them and add them to the rest, i add vinager to the rinse and dry them on low heat. I use hot water helps break up the wax. jonathan

I usually wash in warm water.

I soak pads in DP pad rejuvnator, then with warm water rub them on the grit guard in my bucket, like new!
