Cleaning/protecting windshield wipers

I haven't done anything yet but wipe them down with a strong IPA solution. I was thinking about using PERL since, at least what I've read, it has rendered 303 obsolete in the eyes of many enthusiasts. I don't have PERL or 303, so at least one, if not both will be in my next order. Do you have a suggestion on a product?
Heck Im still trying to learn all the product numbers,, I dont even know what you just referred to LOLOLOL. I just wax my windshield with cleaner wax and that was way b4 finding this site or the internet! (Im only 45 btw) Like I said I have never thought about putting anything on the wipers, but I will say I dont think IPA is a good choice to use. Alcohol will dry out the soft rubber. maybe treat with some light silicone. but I would then test to make sure they move water. you dont want a mess on the windshield when you need them.

IMO PERL is 21st century technology. 303 and my old favorite, Duragloss 531 were the best of the last century. PERL can be diluted to fit application. This feature makes for the best value too. I use 1:1 for tires, wipers and trim.

As others have said, the rubber will degrade over time, used or not. If black gunk is coming off of them, I'd replace them.

Also, do not put any sort of dressing on wiper blades. Clean them, but don't protect them.

You can probably buy replacement wiper blade inserts (just the rubber piece) instead of getting all new wipers. I replace mine twice a year at least, and they cost less than $10 for the pair. I have been doing this on all of the different Hondas I have owned, and I would imagine the same applies to Porsche and other makes.

I saw some cleaner dressing at Big lots the other day and thought of you. LOLOL you may check there.

bringing this thread back...what about after cleaning the blades, with IPA, APC, or Car Pro PERL...what about applying wax over them? Just an idea...not too sure how effective it'd be.

I still use 303 on my boat, but I use Perl more now on the car. As for wipers I just replace them a few times a year (under $40) and wipe the rubber blades with IPA when ever I wash the car.

If you polish and wax your windshield, and put IPA on the wipers..would that affect the wax on the windshield? Would wax on the blade make it glide better?

I always clean the wiper blade each time I wash a car, nothing special , just car soap.
Never had an issue, I do change them out at least once a year on my personal cars.
When cleaning a customers car I clean them using Meguiar's APC cut , seems to do the trick on the very nasty ones.
