Cleaning up my exhaust tips

Stupid question. Is taking off the exhaust tips as easy as just loosening/removing the bolt and nut from around the base of the tips and just sliding the tips off? I've never actually removed any before.

For most aftermarket systems, yes. Although chrome tips from the factory are welded on 99% of the time.

Great job Pockets. :props:

Much easier to take them off and clean them here are some pics from just now

I recently replaced my inexpensive chrome tips with a set of Pypes Chrome plated tips on my Mustang.

Since my car sits low the tailpipes were always scraping the driveway when I backed in to park. I had the tailpipes raised and the exhaust tips welded to give me more clearance.

I don't scrape the tailpipes anymore but I also cannot remove the tips for cleaning and polishing either. My car is a daily driver and is affected by rain, snow, salt and ice so keeping them clean and shiny is a year round project for me.

Spray & Wipe worked great! Even cleaned that little bit of crud off the edge! Since I need a few things I suppose a couple Poorboy's products with my order won't hurt!

The Ford Nationals are coming up June 3-5, 2011 at Carlisle,PA. For the third straight year I will be attending and showing my 2002 Mustang on the show grounds. I will be attending with the Mustang Club of Maryland where I am the clubs Historian and Photographer.

I'll be detailing the car over the holiday weekend and into next week as the weather forecast is for thunderstorms every day.

The exhaust tips will be cleaned and polished before and after I arrive each day at the fairgrounds. It is an all day chore to keep the car dust free during the day. I usually use Meguiars spray detailer to remove the dust and keep the car shiny during it's time on the field.

It's much better to be a participant than a spectator!
