Clear bra care

OK, what's the best way to care for a clear bra?

The first best thing you can do is treat it like your scratch-sensitive paint and that is to be careful when washing and drying it. It's easier to be careful then it is to try to remove swirls and scratches or worse, remove it and replace it.

Use soft wash mitts and dry with the blotting technique.

After that most people will apply whatever it is they're applying to the paint to the clear bra. In most cases it won't harm it and in a best case scenario it might even help it to look better.

Don't use anything abrasive on it nor a cleaner/wax.

What are you working on?
What are you using for an LSP

I'm sure others will chime in...

Right after I welcomed a new member and posted you won't find our members telling others to use the search button I found this thread... I should have written,

Mike's info is right on, clear bras in general are very soft, so proper washing techniques are a must, would you happen to know the brand of film?

Does the manufacturer/dealer for your clear bra provide care instructions? If so, I would follow what they say. I use only X-Pel clear bra and use their products to maintain the film.

I have venture shield and 3m on my Lambo. I wash it as I would the car, blow dry and use whatever wax I'm using on the car that day. As Mike said, just be careful and be patient. Make sure you tape off any edges or seams to keep the wax out of them.

I have VentureShield on two cars now. On the first one, I was very careful and used Plexus as indicated by the installer. I got braver and braver with it and now treat it just like the rest of the paint. I have even polished it with a polishing pad and compound. They really help with chips, but stain very easily with bugs. Polishing is the only way I have been able to get the bug stains out.

:iagree::whs:

I also keep in mind the warranty issue and how it may come into play. Others may not.

Thanks Mike (and others) for the reply. I will make sure to keep in mind the blotting technique for the future.

Film applied is the Ventureshield and the last step product has been the same finishing wax as the rest of the vehicle. Plexus was recommended as a cleaner polish, however, I have been noticing that it works well on the cleaner areas but does not handle any spots that may have been generated by bugs, etc even though I try to remove them ASAP they still leave behind some imperfections in the film from time to time. Plexus seems to act like the household product Pledge IMO. I was think that to help mitigate these spotty areas it would be worthwhile to try a final finishing product - one with minimal cut - keeping in mind that the film is so thin.

Ventureshield (which suggest Plexus as a cleaner/polish), however, this doesn't do much for the bug spots, etc.

Venture Shield, as well as most PPF, claims their film has a thickness of 8 mils, considerably more than most OEM vehicles 1.5-3 (possibly 4) mils thick clear-coat paint finish, but still as susceptible to scratches, swirls, ding-dang-it, etc.

IMO, I would suggest: caution and restraint from some aggressive abrasives/polishes. Overall, use of PPF is often less costly than a re-spray.
