I had a customer ask me if I can remove the sun damage paint on her car. I think it is clear coat failure. I wanted a second opinion. Look at the pictures bellow and let me know thanks

Yeah that looks like some serious cleat coat failure there her best bet is to have the car repainted or those sections repainted

It amazes me that people let their cars get this bad and then want it fixed. This has probably looked like this for years and now they want to sell the car and need it to look decent.

A good repaint will cost a few thousand dollars. Regular detailing over the life of the car to protect it could be done by the owner for about $100 over 10 years and about 20 hours per year. (washing not considered) Or they could pay someone for a quick detail every 3-4 months for about $300/year. While the cost may be roughly the same they could at least enjoy a car that doesn't look like it belongs in a junkyard. It is much like maintaining your engine. You can spend a little money to change the fluids regularly or you can ignore it and pay the large amount to repair/replace it in the end. Either way you are going to spend the money. Might as well invest it in a manner you can enjoy.

totally agree. its a shame to see something like this

Not fixable shy of a full repaint.

Not sure what model or year of car that is, but I don't think its worth doing unless they earl scheib it for a few hundred. A professional job at a proper collision and paint center will cost a couple thousand.

It is a shame. I'm in the same boat with my wife custom van. It's been detailed with out fail for 2 to 300 dollars every 6 months ever since it was purchase. At 8 years the fiber glass hi top clear failed. Had it repainted an now 5 years later it's failed again. Only this time all the fiber glass sections are peeling gravely. They lifetime warranty from the paint shop has me going to small claims court
I have to wonder if after all these years they just washed the top as it's 9 ft tall.
It's was a $60,000+vehicle and it looks like crap. With 89,000 miles on it I figured it should still look closed to new.
Evidently fiberglass these days just doesn't hold the clear coat. The guy who did the recoat shot with " heavy solids" so it would last longer. I used zaino cs on it for the uv protection between details. Didn't seem to help, so now I have a peeling 60+k custom ride that looks like something from the scrap yard. Every thing inside is mint. All leather, custom sound, entertainment system with 4 channeled wireless headphones fore the kids with their own stereo. Even has a fold down bed and an. Xbox. DVD a flat screens. Just makes me sick.
