Clear paint sealants

I just had 3M PPF put on my hood and door edges. I am kind put off by what I read about potential wax buildup on the edges of the film, so I am wondering if there are any clear paint sealants that would make that issue nonexistent! I have read you can tape the edges of the film but that means there are always going to be areas that don't get sealed. Plus it sounds like a drag to remove from the film edges if you don't use tape.

Any suggestions for a clear product that would not cause this issue?

Thanks,

Mike

any coating wont leave that residue you dont like.

You want Optimum Opti-Seal, Ultima Paint Guard Plus, Blackfire Crystal Seal, Wolfgang Deep Gloss Liquid Seal, or Zaino Clear Seal. Or, as Kaban noted, a coating, perhaps the new Detailer's Paint Coating.

But I have heard that coatings like Liquid Glass, which dries like a haze and needs to be buffed (just like a wax) will leave that residue on the edges and it is a drag to try to remove. Is that not true?

But I have heard that coatings like Liquid Glass,
If it's the Liquid Glass I'm familiar with...It's a Sealant...not a Coating.

Be aware that there are coatings that are said to be incompatible with PPF's.

HMMM, most of those other products mentioned about say they are sealants as well. This is really confusing. All I want is something to protect my paint and make my car look really shiny! :-) So are Optimum Opti-Seal, Ultima Pain Guard Plus, Blackfire Crystal Seal, Wolfgang Deep Gloss Liquid Seal and Zaino Clear Seal, NOT sealants? IF not, why do 4 of them use the word "seal" in their name?

I'm new to this and getting more and more confused every new answer I get.

Thanks,

Mike

I definitely do not want to use Liquid Glass (wasted my money there) because it sounds like a drag to get out of the edges of the hood bra and door edging. Are there any paint "sealants" that go on clear and won't muck up the edges of 3M PPF?

Thanks,
Mike

Waxes, Sealants, Hybrids, Coatings...Different technologies, so to say.
They all "seal" the paint...thereby providing "protection".
Car-care products' manufacturers label their products, as they see how they'll 'fit',
their targeted market.
