Clearcoat Failure

I bought a 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe for $500, runs very well. The only issue is that there are a severe clearcoat failure and oxidation.
I was wondering if there was any way to remove the clearcoat and slightly restore the paint. I was thinking of using

1. Lambswool or yellow pad with Meguiar's #95 speed cut or Pinnacle XMT #4
2. Followed by white Meguiars #9 Swirl Remover.
3. Paint Sealant

Would these work, would I have to wet sand, or is it a complete lost cause and get the paint job? I don't want to paint a car that is worth $500.

Lost cause. Repaint. If it runs well just get a Maaco cheapy paint job.

It's not going to look perfect and won't last forever, but should look a little better.

I have also heard that some paint shops will custom mix and make you aerosol spray cans for you if you're in to that.

That or rattle can it with a color of your choice. The more prep you do the better it will look.
 
Once the clearcoat is gone, no amount of correction is going to restore it.

With that method you will be accelerating the damage even more.
 
That video in reality is probably the only re-course besides a new paint job. I did the same thing to the Daughters roof on her car. It did turn out so so on a midnight twilight blue metallic as the white spots still came thru.................But it did look better.

Good project to paint it yourself. Sand it, prime it, get a gun and compressor and shoot. If you don't want to do that I'd just use rattle cans.
