Duragloss AW --- having washed the truck again for the third time and using AW till I finish it up , there are couple items that need mentioning.
Beading --- I see no real difference in beading from a wax or sealant. Nowhere near as uniform as P21S, and Zaino.
Slickness --- there must be some durability to AW, as not really noted during washing or drying but when adding another coat it was immediately apparent that slickness was present and it was if it was bonding or working together to quickly bring back alot more slickness than usually noted with just qd'ers. Much more so than 1st and 2nd coat showed.
Dust --- AW really appears to actually PULL dirt and dust to it. Very wierd but this week there is clearly more dust ABOVE the finish (it looked like a layer). It does NOT however seem to blow off after a spirited highway romp. (I drive 30 miles , twice daily on I95). Perplexing as it seems like it keeps it above the surface (protecting) but capturing it versus 425 which blows off after 2-3 minutes on the road.
Smell --- AW stinks in this department. It has a sweet suntan lotion coconut type smell but this lingering sour milk or vinegar type smell. The sour really starts to be much more noticable when using it. YUCK !
Gloss --- there is clearly some present and deepens with a couple of hours. So likely something is curing or a catalyst is drying. I would say nice and warmer so similar to a carnuaba look. 425 still is more glossier initially and after curing.
I gotta say .... I would be hard pressed to knock either product. I still personally like 425 better as I like the immediate gloss, the obviously better anti-static ability and ease of use as well as using it twice weekly anyways. AW has it beat in slickness (think UPP) and looks rather well and easy to use also. If I did not wash weekly (or twice) I would probably nod to AW given the apparent durability.
Now as Al noted above, I am comfortable that additional layers done back to back with AW will add to the finish and likely durability. That said, if I was going to take the time to do this, I would move to UPP Spray Sealant or even Wolfgang as I would have much better durability , only need one travel around the car, and UPP would offer slickness that is leader to date. Yes these two products (UPP and Wolfgang) are true sealants and will need to spray/wipe/buff but still rather easy to use. So 425 and AW are kept as qd'ers+ IMO .....
