Cloudy/hazy paint; would like some advice/opinions

Hi guys,

so I know this thread is old but I wanted to say that I tried two steps...

Step #1
CUT with a blue cutting pad and Meguiar's Ultimate Compound

Step #2
POLISH with an orange finishing/polishing pad + Meguiar's Ultimate Polish

The paint basically looks no different than before (maybe a very slight improvement.

What could I do to get more cut from my cutting stage?

What do you thikn about trying this:
MF cutting pad + M105?

Also, do you think that I might need to wetsand?

What brand pads are you using? Usually a blue pad is a finishing pad, and the orange is a light cutting pad.

I am using generic pads from a supplier here in Ontario, Canada. It's their own house brand which blue is Cut and orange is Polish/Finish.

I am starting to think that I didn't apply the correct amount of product to the pad/technique to the work.

If the body shop just did a crummy buffing job, it shouldn't be a problem to polish it to the same clarity as the rest of the car.

I agree, it does sound like a lousy finishing job. The body shop still might have done a good paint job, they just didn't know how to finish it out correctly. You could go the PDR route and either you or a local detailer could relatively easily compound and polish out the hood so it matches.

You might want to consider some light wet-sanding if necessary.

Anyone else?

I'm picking up a mf cut pad and chem guys v32 tomorrow and if that doesn't "cut it" lol... Then 2000/3000 and mf+m105 it is.
