Coated my tires today and WOW,

Coated these tires at the beginning of the month and they've been through a lot, here they are after a good wheel and tire cleaning this morning. These tires will be on the car for about another month and then they'll be replaced before winter.

Here they are:

Mine looked nice until I curbed my passenger rear tire...

Cleaned a set of Michelin MX all-seasons today that have probably not been properly cleaned since new about four years ago. Two scrubs with 505 and they look great; I'll dress them tomorrow or Thursday.

Cool, let's see the pics of them done too. How many coats are you thinking about using?

What's 505?

Zep 505, heavy-duty APC.

Aiming for a fairly satiny look, probably two or three coats as a test. Swapping to winters within a month, so it will be cool to see how the coating lasts after a month on the road then four months in cold storage.

I'm looking forward to seeing how the TW coating holds up to salt and slush. I'm pretty sure it needs to be applied when its warmer, thankfully I've got the underground parking spot to ensure I'll be able to do this:thumbup:

Dont mean to hijack the thread but figured it might be informative. So i applied about 4 or 5 coats of this turtle wax coating (the right one). I have about half a bottle left. What do i do now when i wash the vehicle lets say after a couple months. Should I still use tire cleaner? Cause I use the blech wite cleaner and Im wondering if it will remove the coating. Can I put more coats on? We have the harsh western ny winters coming here

if it's anything like another tire coating I'm testing out all you need is a wipe down with a car wash soap :xyxthumbs:

All you do is wash as normal. Over time the sheen will tone down a bit but will leave your tires looking "natrual". I guess it all depends on tastes, some like a true natrual look and that's what your left with well after a month but it also depends upon how much rain and/or how often you wash. Cleaning the tires before you do the initial coating is key but you can use the tire cleaner again when looking to re-apply, no problem there.

A lot of us are looking forward, well as much as you can look forward to winter, just to see how well the Turtle Wax tire coating holds up to snow and salt;)

It is nice to not have to search endlessly for a good tire dressing anymore and clean that garbage weekly and reapply

I hope Turtle Wax makes this stuff forever, we're truely spoiled:cool:

I have not stocked up, yet, but I live about 30 mins from their world head quarters and if I think there's a chance I'll head over there ASAP!

Shoot, posting this too late for most Canadians.

I just saw that Canadian Tire had the TW kit on sale for $14.99 this week (that's like $13.20 US!). The trim stuff is $11.99.

SameGuy, you going to pick it up

Picked up two more tire kits and one trim to try out on the Corolla's mud flaps.

Couple of delays this week so I'll be getting to tires and trim some time later today after coating. The car goes back tomorrow.

I personally like the "new tire look" that 303 leaves on properly-cleaned tires, but if two or three coats of the TW can approximate that while lasting a couple of months instead of a couple of weeks, I will be a convert. :)
