Is the ceramic spray mostly used as a touch up(after washes) after doing the coating. Thanks in advance

Part of short story: sure, some are great for touch up after washes, while car is still clean.

You want the long version or the short version?

Either one just trying to see really what the difference is..I know it's time consuming but it seems the spray will be faster but just unsure if it does a better or equal job that it is supose to

Spray sealants or touchless sealants are the easiest to refresh a coating.

The abundance of silica spray sealants are easy to apply but won't match the performance or longevity of a true resin based coating. That is the short answer.

Short answer on my part. There wre only about three or four products that are made and designed to be true coating toppers. Everything else is just siloxane and PDMS products that have nothing really to do with prolonging coatings.

What are rhe 3-4 true toppers?

I agree with all the above.

The true coatings come in tiny glass bottles that lock out oxygen so the liquid won't dry hard.

Installing a true coating is a lot of work - mostly in all the prep work,

  1. Wash and dry car
  2. Clay paint
  3. Correct paint - compound and polish
  4. Chemically strip paint

After all of the above - NOW you can INSTALL a coating. The word install simply means "apply". Our industry is silly.

The above all said - the simple spray-on types are faster and are easier and you could simply,

  1. Wash and dry
  2. Clay if needed
  3. Spray-on, spread-around and then wipe-off any excess

And the end results will be - water will bead up like crazy and that's the main "appearance" criteria everyone uses to judge a coating. How LONG the water beads up in tight, tiny water beads is the other criteria called,

Longevity

In my opinion - the best way to actually seal and protect your car's paint is the long way, machine polishing but heck - if you don't care about removing swirls - a coating will stick to paint that has swirls and scratches.

I think the process I share here is about as simple as one can keep it.

At the end of the day - NO MATTER what you use - you still have to WASH the car GENTLY.

How long anything lasts comes down to how you TOUCH the paint. In fact - I have an article on this topic.

I teach and share so much information about how to REMOVE swirls and then as a follow-up, how to prevent swirls. And here's something I say often so now it's an article and a quote by yours truly.
