Coatings Not Needed On Modern Clear Coat Paints?

His bashing dealer coatings and is stating any protection over the clear is pointless as the clear coat is the protection and anything you top it with is a waste of time as its far weaker.
 
It's an interesting video, if a bit nonsensical. For someone who lives in Australia, I'm surprised he would say anything like that due to the sun. I guess where he lives there are no chalky faded red cars?
