Hey guys...strange thing happend to me last night. After getting my black '57 looking absolutely fabulous with PB BH, I decide to test out my new tub of Souveran. By the way, I do everything by hand...and I use the Sam's Club MF towels. But for the Souveran, I decide to use the included Cobra towel. Again, I just had everything looking perfect with the BH.

I test the Souveran on my hood using the straight line technique, but I have trouble getting it off clean with the Cobra...and when I'm done, lots of very light scratches that are kinda smudgy looking. So I take some Griots Speed Detailer and see if it's just the Souveran still on there, but it doesn't take off the smudgy scratches, either. So at first I'm thinking this Souveran sucks...

Then this morning, I go over the hood a couple more times with the PBBH and get it looking good again and almost decide to leave it untopped, but decide to give the Souveran one more shot, but this time I use my regular MF towels...suddenly everything looks like I had hoped...just as black and slick as after the BH, but now with a deeper shimmering shine. So I don't know what's up with that Cobra towel, but I'm not going to use it anymore...

It's interesting that you too are finding a few issues with the Cobra towels.

Now I don't know the manufacturing process used to make these towels but what I've found is they seem to work much better after washing then first. It's possible the material has some sort of a coating but this doesn't even make sense.

Are the Cobra towels you're using the thin or thick ones?
I've found that the thinner ones work a little better initially then switch to the thicker for final buffing.

It was the complimentary dark yellow towel that came with the Souveran...I would describe it as thick: says "Gloden Plush" on the tag. I've never bought or used any other Cobra towels, except the one for window glass, which worked great, so I'm not sure what was up.

did you wash the towel before use ??? Also note, Souveran should be removed damp (Wipe on Wipe Off) and all you should need is a quick wipe to remove any light residue, if you have to work it longer you used too much.

I did not wash it beforehand...should I have?

And yes, I applied it and removed it properly. I ended up doing my whole car with great results...just not with that towel.

i had that happen to me before. it was a pain to get it to remove..it was like streaking off the wax off the edges of the towels..it was the same towel as well the Cobra jr gold plush. I only had it happen once..it was odd..i now use the blue rolled edge cobras and they seem like they are made for Souveran..they work soooo well with it
